The proposed project aims to demonstrate the possibility of integrating in micro/nano-resonators based on photnic crystal III-V semi-conductors, slow light propagation obtained through a nonlinear interaction process called the coherent population oscillations (CPO) effect. The objective is to combine two different approaches: the group velocity engineering through a nonlinear coherent optical effect and the engineering of the photonic modes in micro/nano-resonators with high Q factors or optical waveguides with slow modes. The goals are undersigning of the interaction of the slow light obtained via the nonlinear coherent optical effect with the photonic modes of high Q resonators or with the waveguides slow modes, and to explore different original applications of these resonators. The consortium will successively address situations with growing complexity, starting the first year with the study of the CPO effect in ridge and W1 waveguides, then in the second year the microcavities with slow modes and in the last year the coupled microcavities in novel and innovative setups.
