The project “INTEGRATED HEAT-AIRFLOW-MOISTURE MODEL WITHIN ENCLOSURES. EXPERIMENTAL VALIDATION” - HAM, planned by a partnership between Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest – UTCB and The Center for Thermal Sciences of Lyon – CETHIL, proposes to accomplish experimental and numerical analyses for thermo-solutal-convection phenomena for humid air in ventilated rooms, including water vapour surface condensation. This will make available useful answers and solutions concerning the assessment of thermal comfort and air quality inside ventilated enclosures based on three important parameters: temperature, velocity and moisture of indoor air. The results of the project will allow predicting the amount of condensate on a cold surface, the exact position and its evolution in space and in time. These features of our project can have multiple technical and industrial applications: residential and commercial buildings - thermal comfort, indoor air quality and energy consumption; museums and industry -microclimate control and technological conditions, e.g. papermaking plants, vehicles -condensation and freezing prediction on the windshield. Consequently the main objectives of this project are the following: - building up computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical models and running transient simulations - experimental measurements campaigns on full scale test cells (validation of numerical models) - dissemination and exploitation of project results The “numerical-experimental” investigations will be performed for different conditions (“slot” Reynolds and Archimedes numbers, inlet moisture content, inlet turbulence intensity) and ventilation systems (mixing or displacement with different types, dimensions and positions of the supply and exhaust air terminal devices) in order to cover a large domain of application.
