SALSA²

The objective of the SALSA ² project is to struggle against various threats which make use of motor vehicles. The stop of these engines is then caused by anelectromagnetic wave illumination. This stop is obtained at a distance, with smaller collateral effects than other current solutions. The motor vehicle involved in this project are powerful cars - called go-fast - used by traffickers to transport drugs, and more generally in the background of terrorism and serious crime. Moreover, the SALSA ² project will benefit from this study on go-fast to propose a system to stop speed boats because of the similarity of the engines. These boats are used by drug traffickers in the Caribbean and between the coasts of North Africa and Europe. These boats are also used by pirates of Somalia or by terrorists carrying explosives to strike a ship or a sensitive site. The SALSA ² should be used must be used from roadside or coastline, mounted on a carrier or not, even during a chase. The second use is for a zone protection, at the entrance of a sensitive site like an harbor or at passage of a checkpoint. The SALSA ² project has strong multidisciplinary character: -This project involves a study and understanding of the phenomena of electromagnetic compatibility. -In addition, the source and the antenna implement innovative properties for multiple industrial fallout. -Finally, the integration of the entire system on a demonstrator must be compatible with operational scenarios, discretion and ergonomics. Moreover, legal and sociological impacts of this project will be reviewed.
