PROMETHEUS

The mental health of young people is an important topic for European research as emphasized by the publication of the call Horizon 2020 "SC1-PM-07-2017: Promoting mental health and well-being in the young ". Children, adolescents and young adults up to 25 years of age are exposed to several risks related to the development of mental disorders. Promoting mental health through targeted interventions can reduce the risk factors for such disorders, by improving in a sustainable way the welfare of young people. The PROMETHEUS network (PROmotion of Mental Health in European University Students) aims to bring together international researchers around the theme of promoting the mental health of students enrolled in higher education in Europe. The project will last 8 months and will have a first short-term objective: the submission by the PROMETHEUS network for the mentioned H2020 call. In parallel, the network will explore the possibility to apply for other calls concerning the mental health of students in Europe. Similarly, we will explore the opportunity to respond to calls for financing exchanges between research professors (ex. Ulysses grant). The PROMETHEUS network is coordinated by the Bordeaux Population Health center U1219 Inserm-University of Bordeaux (BPH), whose director, Professor Christophe Tzourio, is also the coordinator of PROMETHEUS. The total network consists of: Christophe Tzourio (principal investigator), Ilaria Montagni (co-investigator, BPH), José Almenara Barrios (Demografía y estadística sanitaria, Universidad de Càdiz), Francesco Amaddeo (Psychiatry - Department of Neurological, Biomedical and Movement Sciences , Università di Verona), Aine Horgan (Nursing & Midwifery, University College Cork), Christiane Stock (Institute of Public Health, Unit for Health Promotion Research, University of Southern Denmark) and Tiina Ristikari (Children, Adolescents and Families, National Institute for Health and Welfare, Helsinki). The network covers several disciplines: epidemiology, health economics, psychology, psychiatry, sociology, politics and health communication. Different regions of Europe are involved in the network (South, North and West), which will allow for a comparative and cross-cultural approach. The PROMETHEUS network will be among the first networks in Europe to bring together research centers and universities around the promotion of mental health initiatives for students.The MRSEI funding will formalize and disseminate the network's activities (ex. news on the websites of partner centers). The MRSEI instrument is then essential to organize two meetings / workshops to define the best strategy possible search.
