This 42-month research project, involving 3 research laboratories active in the fields of eco-design and additive manufacturing (G-SCOP, COSMER et GEM), aims to respond to the current environmental/climate/energy crisis by precisely specifying the relevant areas of use of additive manufacturing technologies. The ambition is to be able to formulate a GREEN DFAM approach guaranteeing a reduction by a factor of 2 to 4 of environmental impacts (compared to a traditional manufacturing method) by going beyond Energy consumption or CO2 impacts alone. To do this, this research project will provide designers and project managers with a GREEN DFAM decision support tool (including a Green DFAM guide, a reliable LCA-type environmental database specific to AM, as well as life cycle models for the 5 uses of additive manufacturing considered - Mass optimisation, Integration, Customisation, Maintainability and Pre-series production) for the eco-design of parts made by metal additive manufacturing, targeting different industrial application sectors (aeronautics, automotive, tooling and production systems). The technologies available within the consortium in metal FA are targeted here, in particular: WLAM and WAAM, LB or EB-PB, MIM-FDM/BMD used for materials with high demand (stainless steel, aluminium, special steels and titanium). The formalisation of these methodological elements (GreenDFAM Rule Base, LCA DB for FA and Life Cycle Models) will be the result of (1) the collection and cross-referencing of information from the scientific literature (WP1), (2) analysis of FA/FT comparisons on industrial cases (WP2) and (3) experiments with laboratory manufacturing (on the equipment of the 3 platforms in conjunction with the G-SCOP, GEM and Cosmer laboratories) of parts optimised to reduce environmental impact (WP3). The GreenDFAM OAD will be tested in a real situation in WP5 and will be widely disseminated via the Network EcoSD, Network Initiatives 3D, CETIM and the Cimes, EMC2 and Mer Méditerranée competitiveness clusters.
