The general objective of VIGIMONT is to develop a new service within two existing platforms that provide an alert system for security authorities (Wikipredict and RhyTMME platforms), by adding modules dedicated to real-time debris flows and landslides dynamic vigilance for safety authorities in mountain areas. Indeed, thanks to the deployment of meteorological radars, the occurrence of debris flows and landslides induced by meteorological events will be analysed, based on the quantification of antecedent precipitations and the definition of rain events. This will allow the determination of critical rainfall thresholds for events occurrences. A nested multi-scale approach is proposed by considering both the regional and local (municipal) scales, with the development of services for end-users operating at both scales. To this end, sociological surveys will be conducted among local actors and population in order to analyse their perception of risks, as well as the current management of risk prevention and crisis. Thus, through the identification of local needs and the acceptability of vigilance services, the new developments will adress the needs of civil protection services, by providing vigilance level maps. The operational benefits will be an early dissemination of decision support information, which will contribute to an earlier activation of the PCS and an earlier securing of the stakes. The choice of sites will be based on previous events for which a retrospective analysis can be made, and also on existing services to be improved. The following municipalities are foreseen: Villeneuve d'Entraunes, Crots, and some municipalities of the Roya, Tinée and Vésubie valleys, which will be chosen based on SMIAGE advices.
