COUDRIER

COUDRIER is a participatory research project on the water resource in a micro-territory weakened by repeated droughts due to climate change: The Grand Site de France (GSF) "Bibracte - Morvan des Sommets". Designed in the spirit of "transformative governance" (IPBES, IPCC), the project will strengthen micro-local capacities in order to reduce the proven risks of water shortages in this emblematic "critical zone" territory, original in the role that plays the autonomous management of water resources (system of Free Trade Associations or ASL). With all the stakeholders (scientists, authorities, ASL, economic actors, inhabitants), COUDRIER will co-produce knowledge resulting from the meeting of pragmatic and non-scientific knowledge, geo-hydrological measurements, hydroclimatic simulations, geomorphological traces. For the first time, the participants will be led to analyze together the local water cycle in the long term and its singularities on this mid-mountain terrain at the junction of the Yonne-Seine and Loire watersheds. It will combine physical sciences and human sciences with vernacular knowledge to collectively bring out approaches to sustainable management and better governance of the resource, based on Living Lab protocols. Participatory research is defined here as the co-production, by scientific actors (gathered around the BioGéoSciences laboratory) and territorial actors (federated by Bibracte EPCC, the Maison du Patrimoine oral de Bourgogne and the Chemins association), of a research process aimed at the general interest; It therefore aims both to produce scientific knowledge and to put it to use in the service of social transformation in the interest of the population, by articulating the rules of the academic world (protocols, reproducibility, refutability) and the value of the experiential knowledge of the territory's occupants (stories, situations, actions) in counterpoint to calculable data. To do this, the members of the COUDRIER consortium have been building this project together for the past two years for all the stakeholders who have a role to play in adapting to the climate crisis, with the support of the GSF governance. At each stage, the project relies on the co-construction between the stakeholders: operational modalities and protocols, implementation of tools and knowledge production (work packages [WP] 2 and 3), collection, processing, restitution and debate of data and knowledge of experiences related to water in the GSF territory (WP 4 and 5), their contradictory examination and the collective search for synthesis tracks, which may still be divergent (WP 6 and 7), and finally production of deliverables (WP 8). The data and knowledge produced will be compiled and discussed on a "social" platform based on a model created by the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle; hydrological and geomorphological field data will be used to map and analyze the current hydric context, reinforced by hydroclimatic projections; the non-academic knowledge described and specified with the occupants of the territory by the Maison du Patrimoine oral de Bourgogne will be restituted during collective workshops for the inhabitants; all of this new knowledge will be discussed during critical discussion, ideation and synthesis workshops. The deliverables of the project will be twofold: the publication of documents and articles describing the implementation protocols of the co-research approach, as well as its evaluation and results in the face of the risk of repeated droughts; the perpetuation of a dialogue format between all the actors that will allow them to work in the long term, in spite of divergent points of view and positions, in order to promote concrete actions in the medium term.
