ReCircle

The ReCircle project aims to propose optimisation tools to address the sustainability issues of a Remanufacturing Supply Chain, by focusing on its operational management from different perspectives: - Dynamic optimisation of the remanufacturing system, which products' arrive in batches of uncertain volume and composition, and for which the processing sequences are discovered as the parts are reprocessed, thus restricting visibility of future operations and therefore increasig the cognitive load (stress) on operators; - Dynamic optimisation of collection and delivery of parts to be remanufactured, as well as the link with the inventory at each remanufacturing site. When a part cannot be repaired, its components can be stored, either for future use, or to be sent to another remanufacturing unit with the appropriate skills to process the part. This leads to a heavy burden on the management of inventory levels for different product families. It is therefore important for parts to be transported as soon as possible so as not to overload a site's storage area, without however increasing the number of planned routings, which could have a negative environmental impact; - Optimisation of the integrated problem, in its proactive form, taking into account the scheduling of the remanufacturing system -incorporating supposed knowledge about product routings, and the transportation of parts to supply the inventory of products to be remanufactured; - Dynamic optimisation of the integrated problem, making it possible to define the basis of an optimisation tool that can be integrated into a Digital Twin; - The integration of the designed optimisation modules into a Digital Twin, in order to provide a proof of concept of applicability of the methods and models developed, thus addressing a remanufacturing supply chain.
