Cardiovascular diseases constitute, with about 19 million deaths per year, the leading cause of death worldwide. The main controllable risk factors are malnutrition and smoking, but also lack of physical activity and air pollution, two factors directly related to mobility. Exposure to noise and heat is also linkable to mobility. However, relationships between mobility-related environmental exposures and cardiovascular specific parameters, such as heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse wave velocity, need further investigation. The Mobility, related pollutions, and Cardiovascular health (MobiCard) project seeks to better characterize individual exposures to air pollution, noise, and temperature, considering innovative indicators, in order to better describe their short- and long-term effects on cardiovascular health. To meet these objectives, the participants of this study will be monitored for one week using wearable individual sensors for pollution, activity, and cardiovascular parameters. Thus, these three components will be able to be followed continuously and simultaneously. This pluri-disciplinary epidemiological project, which will be conducted in the general population within the Lille conurbation, should bring new insights on the role of environmental exposures in the development of cardiovascular diseases.
