The project TEXAD aims to bring breakthroughs in air treatment technologies throw the development of a self-cleaning adsorbant textile, designed to limit consumables for a sustainable purifier. The association of an adsorbant and a photocatalyst on a textile incorporating side-lighting optical fibres equipped with UVA LEDs, and heating wires, allow rapid treatment of pollution by trapping, and regular regeneration of the adsorbant by thermal cycles inducing controlled re-leaching of trapped pollutants, which are then treated on photocatalytic optical fibres. Through this project we propose to present to the market a compact, cost-effective remediation tool. The main challenge of TEXAD is to implement self-cleaning adsorbant textile in a reactor for air treatment, and to study from both the performances and the mechanisms point of view, the effect of TiO2/adsorbant on the durability of the purifier.
