Sustainable protein production is crucial for a net-zero and resource-efficient food system. Grassa pioneers this revolution, reshaping biomass processing. The model spans grass/biomass protein concentrate, prebiotics (FOS), and plant-based fertilizer. Targeting dairy and arable farmers, through strategic stakeholder engagement, Grassa secures commitment from all relevant parties. Addressing societal challenges in protein production, it eyes a $770 bn market by 2032, aligning with EU strategies and UN SDGs. It will cut 20 tCO2 eq./ha/yr, yielding up to €1680/ha/yr for farmers and enhancing biodiversity. However, securing ample investment faces challenges due to investor caution and uncertainties around grass protein. Seeking an EIC grant, Grassa aims for transformative milestones, like European approval for grass as food ingredient. This blended financing strategy, combining external investments with the EIC grant, propels Grassa towards reshaping the grass/biomass-to-food industry.
