EnablingChipletTech

Chiplet technology is one of the breakthrough technologies in the semiconductor industry, and will broadly shape future chip architectures in many applications from quantum computers, data centers, edge-computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and automotive to mobile devices. One of the most critical success factors will be high-bandwidth interconnects specifically as they consume up to 50% of the overall energy consumption of a chiplet device. EXTOLL’s unique solution for electrical high-speed interface chip-IP beats competitors by far on power consumption, cost of anufacturing and related sustainability. Today this chip-IP is used in long-reach applications like PCIe or Ethernet. It has been validated, that all technical competitive advantages also apply to dedicated VSR (Very Short Reach) chiplet interconnects. EIC acceleration support is applied for, to enable the development, optimization and adaptation of today’s IP to such short-reach requirements for leading edge chiplet applications and to meet the related market window. Besides the business opportunity, it is a real chance for Europe to compete against the US dominance in the chip-IP market, and to even regain leadership in this specific area.
