Deeper Pulse

Deeper Pulse is on a mission to open a new era of digital innovation in electric motor (EM) design. We are fulfilling the world’s need for new, disruptive EM designs that will address the growing environmental pressure and the projected 3.5X growth of the share of EMs in the world’s energy consumption by 2050. To answer this challenge, Deeper Pulse developed a breakthrough software system for topology optimization in electric motors (EMs) that helps engineers create breakthrough EM designs. The system is based on over 10 years of research by Frédéric Messine's team at the Plasma and Energy Conversion Laboratory in Toulouse, France. Deeper Pulse extends topology optimization principles from mechanics to electromagnetics. Uniquely, our software creates a grid of “meshes” that represent the topology of an EM component (e.g. a stator or rotor), and then iteratively optimizes each mesh, sculpting the most appropriate shape and material composition (iron, copper, void) for the entire component. Our solution is faster than any other approach, allowing short iterations, and the creation of a manufacturable EM design in under 6 months. Our software is ~120X quicker at mesh processing than the closest AI-based competitor and is free from human engineering biases and preconceptions. As a result of our optimization, we reduce materials usage by 15-30%, increase motor torque by 20%, and reduce the Total Costs of Ownership by 40% on average for each electric motor. We target the automotive (€33.4B) and HVAC (€12.9B) electric motor market segments within the total EM market that is valued at €133B. We are seeking EIC support to extend the range of our software to such functions as demountability, manufacturing process optimization, and 3D simulation—the improvements that will allow us to become the dominant force in the next chapter of innovation in EM design.
