SETIPWind 2 will reinforce the SET Plan Community on Wind Energy — comprising the Implementation Working Group on Wind (IWG Wind), the European Technology & Innovation Platform on Wind (ETIPWind) and EERA JP Wind — by delivering a coordinated, science-based R&I roadmap for the creation of a European Fund for Wind Research & Competitiveness (EFWRC). This fund will address fragmented R&I funding, align national and EU priorities, and accelerate technology deployment to meet climate and energy targets. The project will: (1) co-create the EFWRC roadmap, including legal, governance, and financing frameworks; (2) consolidate stakeholder fora through streamlined governance and high-profile annual events; (3) foster cross-sectoral and international cooperation, ensuring coordination with other initiatives to avoid overlaps; (4) identify innovation barriers, market opportunities, and actions to enhance EU industrial competitiveness and strategic autonomy; and (5) prepare a long-term sustainability plan beyond EU funding. By combining the industrial reach of WindEurope with the scientific expertise of EERA JP Wind, SETIPWind 2 will strengthen the European wind R&I ecosystem, provide evidence-based inputs to the SET Plan, and support the Green Deal Industrial Plan and the Net Zero Industry Act. The project will integrate Social Sciences and Humanities to ensure inclusiveness, societal acceptance, and a just transition. With a target to mobilise €200 million annually in public and private R&I investment by 2030, it will create a lasting, coordinated, and innovation-driven pathway for Europe’s wind sector within the wider clean energy transition.
