Gaia AIF

Gaia AI Factory aims to establish a state-of-the-art AI Factory in Poland, creating a robust infrastructure for developing and deploying advanced artificial intelligence solutions. Coordinated by AGH University of Krakow’s ACC Cyfronet and supported by a national consortium of research and technology institutions, it responds to the growing demand for large-scale AI infrastructure in Europe. The initiative aligns with the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking’s mission to enhance Europe’s trustworthy AI capacity and with the Digital Europe Programme’s objective to ensure broad access to high-performance AI resources for research and innovation. At its core lies a high-performance supercomputing system with around 1,000 GPU units divided into dedicated partitions for training and inference, enabling scalable processing for diverse AI applications — from research and prototyping to production. Gaia AI Factory offers not only infrastructure but a full innovation environment with pre-configured tools and end-to-end services for the AI lifecycle: data preparation, training, validation, deployment, and monitoring, accessible through a PLGrid-integrated portal. Beyond technology, the Factory will foster collaboration among academia, industry, and the public sector through workshops, hackathons, and expert networks. It will also build human capacity via training programmes, online courses, and mentoring, enhancing national AI skills and workforce readiness. The Factory embeds principles of trustworthy and responsible AI, ensuring compliance with the AI Act, GDPR, and ethical governance. Focusing on strategic domains — healthcare, space, and public administration — Gaia AI Factory supports innovation in diagnostics, satellite data analysis, and citizen services. Together with the PIAST AI Factory in Poznan and the LUMI AI Factory, Gaia will form a distributed, interoperable ecosystem for scalable, secure, and sustainable AI development. This initiative strengthens Poland’s role as a
