The mission of MLAMF is to expand and strengthen the work of the Media & Learning Association (MLA) by growing and deepening membership, advancing targeted areas of interest, and increasing our impact through European collaboration and knowledge exchange. MLA is a European network NGO set up in 2012 to promote the use of media in teaching and learning, it currently has 105 members from 27 countries. MLA focuses its work around two core operational areas: Media in Higher Education (MHE) supporting institutions and educators in integrating media and technology to enhance teaching, learning, and student engagement and Digital and Media Literacy (DML) addressing the growing need for critical media skills, helping educators and learners develop the competencies required to navigate, evaluate, and create media responsibly. Together, these focus areas guide MLA’s programmes, events, and strategic initiatives. Over the coming two years under MLAMF, we plan to continue to expand and diversify MLA membership, strengthen the role of our Special Interest Groups, maintain the quality and reach of MLAs event programme and Awards scheme, further our position as a central reference point for DML and MHE and facilitate member involvement in cross-border projects as well as strengthening our position as a contributor to relevant policy discussions at European level. We plan to do this by hosting both in-person and online events, celebrating excellence with an annual award scheme, and acting as a leading hub for news, insights, and resources in our field. We also aim to increase member engagement through surveys and collaborative activities. MLAMF addresses call priorities by supporting the enhancement of digital skills and competences for all, fostering high-quality, inclusive, and accessible education and training, combatting disinformation and promoting critical thinking through media literacy, and supporting the digital transformation of educational institutions and systems.
