<< Background >>We applied for this project to combat discrimination and gender bias in STEM education. Many children, especially girls, are held back by social norms that influence their educational choices and opportunities. Our project aimed to promote gender equality and ensure inclusive access to technology education for all students. We specifically addressed gender stereotypes that limit women’s participation in STEM fields and tackled the technological challenges brought to light by the COVID-19 pandemic. By encouraging teachers to adopt a proactive approach to technological advancements, our project sought to foster collaborative and inclusive learning environments. This approach aimed to empower educators and students alike, ensuring that technology education is accessible and relevant to all, regardless of gender or background.<< Objectives >>We aimed to inspire teachers to integrate technology into their teaching, particularly in STEM subjects, using a norm-reflective approach. This means being aware of and challenging the norms they reinforce through their language, actions, and teaching methods. By providing relatable role models and inclusive practices, we sought to ensure that all students, regardless of gender or sociocultural background, feel engaged and included in their learning. The goal was to develop teachers’ digital competences and promote diversity in the STEM sector, creating a more inclusive and dynamic educational environment.<< Implementation >>To implement the CTUGI project, we conducted the following activities:Preparation and Planning:- Survey: Assessed teachers' needs and skills post-COVID-19 to develop resources.- Meetings: Monthly online sessions for coordination and brainstorming.Development of Resources:- International Teamwork: Online collaboration of cross-sectoral teams to develop project results (PRs), with each PR leader managing evaluation and quality.- Training Events: A week-long training in Guadeloupe to understand outermost regions and enhance skills.Testing and Evaluation:- Pilot Workshops: Tested resources in classrooms and analyzed feedback from teachers and students.- Continuous Evaluation: Compiled quality reports from feedback and Quality Assurance Board (QAB) meetings, adapting outputs accordingly.Dissemination and Exploitation:- Multiplier Events: Organized in partner countries to disseminate results and engage stakeholders.- Online Workshops/Webinars: Broadened reach for those unable to attend in person.- Regular Communication: Frequent online meetings with mainland Europe partners to maintain workflow and communication. These activities developed innovative educational resources, promoted gender equality, teaching skills<< Results >>Conceptual and Methodological Framework:•PR1: Global Theoretical Framework•A theoretical manual providing the conceptual and methodological foundations for practitioners and policymakers in the STEM field.Online Courses for Role Models:•PR2: Role Model Course Handbook - Career Learning and Role Models•8 course videos for role modelsOnline Courses for Teachers:•PR3: Teacher Course Handbook•Course theory and activities for teachers•7 course videosLesson Plans Integrating Technology:•PR4: Technology-Integrated Lesson Plans•Lesson plan template for teachers•Database of 20 lesson plans + 1 lesson plan templateLearning Platform and Audiovisual Resources:•PR5: Learning Platform and Audiovisual Resources•1 project introduction video•5 videos for children covering various technology-related topics.
