The Future English Classroom

<< Background >>We applied for this project to improve English language teaching for primary students, recognizing the importance of early language acquisition. We aimed to introduce an innovative, student-centred approach focused on fluency, confidence, and active participation.Aligned with Erasmus+ priorities and the EU's Education & Training 2020 strategy, the project promoted the use of modern resources and technology to enhance teaching and learning. Our goal was to improve speaking skills through interactive activities such as dialogues, role plays, simulations, storytelling, and drama, encouraging learners to use English in real-life contexts. We also addressed the need for teacher development by fostering collaboration and sharing best practices. By adopting creative and communicative methods, teachers can create supportive environments where students are motivated to use English confidently, both inside and outside the classroom.Lastly, the project addressed our schools’ shared goal of becoming more international by collaborating across cultures, promoting inclusion, and strengthening our presence in the European educational space.<< Objectives >>By implementing this project, we aimed to enhance the quality of English language teaching through the exchange of innovative methods and practices among schools from different countries. Our goal was to identify creative, effective approaches to ESL instruction that could raise educational standards across all participating institutions. We also sought to promote intercultural dialogue by enabling students to learn about other cultures, traditions, and languages. This exchange helps students develop open-mindedness, global awareness and respect for diversity.Another key objective was to diversify the educational resources available to teachers and learners. By collaborating internationally, each school could contribute its expertise, tools, and materials, enriching the overall learning experience. The project also supported the internationalization of our institutions. Working together to create adaptable ESL materials helped strengthen each school’s reputation and broadened their European connections. Finally, we wanted to increase student motivation and engagement by applying modern, technology-driven teaching strategies as well as drama and storytelling.<< Implementation >>Throughout the project, we implemented a rich set of activities to improve English language teaching, promote student engagement, and foster intercultural cooperation. Students took part in interactive ESL tasks such as storytelling, dialogues, role-plays, simulations, and drama performances—all designed to build fluency, creativity, and confidence in speaking English. Each mobility focused on a different theme: – Kastamonu (online): Game-based learning and Web 2.0 tools. – Poland: Digital storytelling and the creation of collaborative story cards. – Mersin: STEM in ELT with engaging coding and technology-based activities. – Italy: Drama and English, where students wrote and performed a joint play. – Bulgaria: Ecology in ELT, combining language lessons with environmental awareness.Teachers regularly collaborated online, sharing lesson plans, tools, and teaching strategies. Technologically advanced schools led workshops and supported others. Dissemination was done through school websites, eTwinning, Twinspace, social media, and YouTube. These activities increased students’ motivation, enhanced digital and language skills, and strengthened the international dimension of all partner schools.<< Results >>The project website.
