Health Equity through Education for a Sustainable Society

<< Background >>We found it challenging to find good ways of including health equity in a good way within the educational programmes. Equitable health care is a key for our societies, and we need to ensure that the health gaps decrease. We therefore wanted to build competences within our organisations and develop useful ways to operationalise this concept. We therefore aimed to develop a framework for health equity within education and ways to provide learners with material to build own competence on this topic. We developed a consortium of HEIS and NGOs for co-creation of framework and material. << Objectives >>The overall objective was to achieve equity in health through education. To manage this we wanted to address disparities and promote inclusivity through a framework and its material. An important part was to make this adaptable to various educational settings and emphasize the importance of equitable access to health resources and opportunities for all students. Building robust networks both locally and internationally is crucial for fostering collaboration on health equity initiatives. By connecting with diverse stakeholders, we wanted institutions to co-create and share best practices, resources, and innovative solutions to common challenges. These networks can then serve as a foundation for ongoing partnerships and collective action. We also wanted to create a dedicated space for collaborations on health equity that could facilitate dialogue, brainstorming, and the development of joint projects that address pressing health disparities. This could also provide a platform for continuous learning and adaptation. Finally, building competence through educational material was a central aspect of the project. << Implementation >>- Mapping of exsisting health equity frameworks and stakeholders (PR1, this also comes as a publication)- Consensus on key aspect of health equity (PR1)- Consensus process of the use of SDGs as a framework (PR1)- Development of a framework (PR1)- Co-development and learning how to use the framework within our organisations (LTTA1)- Dissemination of the framework (ME1)- Designed and build a collabroative space (PR2). - Design and production of learning material (PR3)- Competence building on useing the material for pur teachers/trainers (LTTA2)- Dissemination of the HEQED Home and the project in ME2- PIloting the HEQED Home and the learning matierial (PR4)- Virtual training videos for lecturers, students and others (PR5)- Development of the HEQED e-Book (PR6)- Dissemination of the project and further netwrok development (ME4)https://www.hanuniversity.com/en/articles/2024/11/working-on-equal-healthcare-chances-through-education.-check-out-the-new-platform/<< Results >>R1: HEQED Framework Key for the framework is the health equity concepts (social justice, planetary health, participation, human rights and ontological security).
