Equal Parenting

<< Background >>We applied for the Equal Parenting Project to tackle the pressing issues surrounding gender roles in parenting and to promote happier families. Our main objectives were to dismantle stereotypes that confine mothers and fathers to traditional roles and to promote equal parenting responsibilities.Thus, we aimed to meet these critical needs:1. Address the gender disparity in parental leave, as only 2.7% of men took leave in 2010.2. Reduce the higher likelihood of young women being NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) due to family responsibilities.3. Increase young adults' preparedness for parenthood and challenge traditional gender roles by providing comprehensive education and support. 4. Fill the gap in education on equal parenting, as young people expressed concerns about their readiness for parenthood.The Equal Parenting Project was designed as an innovative strategy to provide training on gender equality and parenting skills to youth and youth workers, fostering a balanced family environment and improving the overall well-being of future families. By equipping youth with the necessary skills and knowledge, we aimed to create a lasting impact on society's perception and practice of equal parenting.<< Objectives >>Through our project, we aimed to achieve the following objectives:1.Empower Young Adults: We sought to equip young adults with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to embrace equal parenting practices. This included understanding the benefits of shared responsibilities, challenging gender stereotypes, and developing effective communication and conflict resolution strategies.2. Transform Societal Norms: We aimed to promote a cultural shift towards more equitable and inclusive family structures. By raising awareness about the negative impacts of traditional gender roles and highlighting the positive outcomes of equal parenting, we aimed to create a more supportive environment for families.3. Train and Support Youth Workers: Recognizing the key role of youth workers in shaping young people's attitudes and behaviours, we aimed to provide them with comprehensive training on equal parenting, enabling them to effectively educate and mentor young adults in their communities.4. Develop Innovative Educational Resources: We aimed to create high-quality, accessible, and engaging educational resources on equal parenting, including a manual of good practices, theoretical content, a train-the-trainer program for youth workers, and OER.<< Implementation >>Our project's implementation was structured around a series of carefully planned activities designed to achieve our defined objectives. These activities were carried out collaboratively and were executed successfully. Below, we outline the key activities that were an integral part of the project's implementation:1. Management & Monitoring: By utilising a suite of management tools, we ensured that the project remained on track and that outcomes were achieved efficiently and within the foreseen budget. 2. Project results: to achieve our project goals, we implemented a set of structured activities which built up on each other and culminated in concrete project results (Manual of Good Practices, Educational Content, Train the Trainers program and OER)3. Dissemination & Multiplier Activities: Following a detailed dissemination plan, we focused our efforts on disseminating project results and main events, aiming to reach a broad audience. In addition, we organised a set of Multiplier events in partner countries as the ultimate dissemination activities. 4. Sustainability: since the first stage, the project aimed to be impactful and sustainable. Thus, a series of activities were implemented to guarantee project sustainability and extended impact. << Results >>The Equal Parenting project successfully produced several concrete outputs and impactful results:1. Manual of Good Practices (PR1): A comprehensive manual compiling 30 best practices in equal parenting from across EU was created, providing a valuable resource for youth workers, parents, and educators.2. Educational Content for Equal Parenting (PR2): Engaging and informative theoretical content was developed, covering topics like challenging gender stereotypes, communication skills, and conflict resolution, forming the basis for the PR3 and PR4.3. Youth Workers Training Program (PR3): A train-the-trainer program was designed and delivered, equipping youth workers with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide equal parenting training to young adults. This included innovative methodologies like role-playing and case study analysis.4. OER (PR4): An interactive online platform featuring bite-sized learning modules, videos showcasing real-life scenarios, and practical tools for implementing equal parenting practices was created, enhancing accessibility and engagement for youth workers and young adults.These outputs result from gathered efforts to realise our vision and deliver impactful resources to youth and Youth Workers.
