Ageing Green

<< Background >>We really wanted to apply this project because, it directly addresses several key needs in our community:Environment and Fight Against Climate Change: We recognize the urgency of environmental issues and climate change. This project aligns with our goal of providing adults with the knowledge and skills to become more environmentally conscious and contribute to a sustainable future.Upskilling Pathways and Improved Accessibility: We are committed to expanding adult education opportunities and making them more accessible for all. This project's focus on creating upskilling pathways and improving accessibility aligns perfectly with our mission.Increased Participation in Adult Education: We strive to increase adult participation in lifelong learning. This project's focus on improving the availability of high-quality learning opportunities and promoting active ageing resonates with our efforts to reach a wider audience.Active Ageing and Creativity: We believe in fostering active and enriching lifestyles for adults. The project's emphasis on active ageing, creativity, and arts & culture aligns with our commitment to providing engaging and stimulating learning<< Objectives >>We, the adult education centers and 1 NGO from Germany recognized the critical need to empower adults to address environmental challenges and embrace lifelong learning. This project perfectly aligned with our mission by aiming to: Equip adult learners with the knowledge and skills to combat climate change and promote sustainability. Develop new upskilling pathways and increase accessibility to make adult education more inclusive and relevant. Foster active ageing by encouraging seniors to participate in stimulating learning experiences that integrate creativity, arts, and culture. By achieving these goals, we envisioned a future with a more environmentally conscious community, a strengthened adult education sector offering high-quality and accessible programs, and enriched lives for senior adults who are actively engaged in learning and contributing to society. << Implementation >>Ageing Green Lesson Modules: This is the project's primary educational resource. It equips adult educators with materials to teach older adults about sustainable living practices and environmental issues.Recycled Toys Handbook: This handbook provides instructions and guidance for making toys from recycled materials. It empowers adult educators to conduct workshops for their learners, promoting waste reduction and resourcefulness.Increased Knowledge and Skills: Project participants, both educators and adult learners, gained knowledge about environmental issues and sustainable practices through the lesson modules and workshops.Enhanced Teaching Skills: Adult educators who participated in the project developed their skills in teaching environmental education to older adults.Raised Awareness: The project activities, including the Ageing Green Exhibition, contributed to raising awareness about climate change and sustainability among educators, senior citizens, and the broader community.Collaboration and Dissemination: Partnerships established during the project facilitated collaboration among adult education providers across Europe. Dissemination efforts utilized platforms like EPALE.<< Results >>Empowering a Sustainable Future: Together, Educators and Seniors Lead the ChangeClimate action demands a multi-generational approach. This project has tackled this need by fostering environmental awareness among educators, who can then empower learners of all ages. Interactive workshops, like the Recycled Toys project, have equipped both educators and seniors with practical skills for reducing waste. The Ageing Green Exhibition has served as a springboard for wider community engagement, inspiring similar initiatives. This ripple effect has empowered not just educators and seniors, but future generations to become responsible stewards of our planet. Educators: The project has provided teachers with engaging lesson plans and resources, allowing them to effectively integrate sustainability themes into their curriculum. This fosters a generation of environmentally conscious students who are empowered to take action. Over 300 adult educators (30 teachers per partner institution x 10 partners) and 1,000 adult learners (100 learners per partner institution x 10 partners) have gained knowledge and skills about environmental issues and sustainable practices through the lesson modules and workshops.
