Sustainable Transformation through Active Peace Education - Empowering Youth to be Conflict-Sensitive Agents of Change

<< Objectives >>“APE - Active Peace Education” strengthens youth organisations in Germany and Spain by integrating peace education into sustainable development. It fosters youth work through innovative methodologies combining ESD and peace education. Key objectives include developing a peace-sustainability toolkit, building organisational capacity, training youth workers, and raising awareness. By linking peace education with sustainability, the project fosters active citizenship and holistic problem-solving.<< Implementation >>APE will implement a comprehensive three-phase approach: First, co-creating an innovative toolkit for peace and ESD education through collaborative research and capacity building. Second, conducting an international training to test and adapt the toolkit with youth workers from local youth education organisations. Finally, executing evaluation activities, two local workshops with youth in Spain and Germany, and community engagement to disseminate project results across Germany and Spain.<< Results >>The APE project expects to produce an innovative toolkit for peace and ESD education, to strengthen organisational capacities in peace education, to implement and test workshops on conflict-sensitive methodologies, and to raise public awareness on the link between peace and sustainable development. The results will enable youth organisations to integrate holistic, transformative educational approaches in Germany and Spain.
