SAVE AND GAME – Escape Game for Energy Sustainability

"<< Background >>We applied for this project in order to provide an opportunity and new innovation for youth workers and young people. By engaging and empowering we wanted to contribute to addressing environmental and climate challenges aligning with the principles established in international conferences such as the Earth Summit. Through this project, we aimed to help increase awareness among young people about environmental issues, improve the communication skills of youth workers in sustainability topics, and promote scientific citizenship and green skills among both youth and youth workers. Additionally, we wanted to prepare young people for the future workforce that is increasingly focused on the green economy. Finally, by satisfying the needs of youth and youth workers and thus creating good quality material capable of preparing them to become true agents of change for a sustainable future, the project addressed the needs of young people.<< Objectives >>By implementing the project, we achieved the following objectives:Objective 1: To increase awareness among young people about environmental challenges and the importance of collective responsibility in addressing them.Objective 2: To enhance the skills of youth workers to effectively communicate with young people about sustainability and position them as agents of change.Objective 3: To foster a sense of scientific citizenship and green skills among young people through interactive tools, preparing them for a future workforce centered around the green economy.<< Implementation >>To achieve these objectives, several implementation activities were undertaken:A.1 Trainers Material : A training guide for youth workers was developed, containing easily understandable technical information and resources to equip them in engaging youth effectively.A.2 ER & Toolbox: Ready-to-use educational, both physical and video, games were created to facilitate learning on sustainability, energy conservation, consumption reduction and climate change.A.3 Action Sheets & Examples: Action Sheets and examples of good practices were provided that should help in implementing sustainable practices in local communities. All followed by A.0.3 Communication activities. We also implemented a 2 days long transnational meeting in Italy.<< Results >>The first result was an interactive guide for youth workers on sustainability which is a comprehensive resource that addresses waste reduction and consumption efficiently. Guide, in four different languages (Croatian, Italian, English and French), can be found on the project website. 2 Added tests, a tool to evaluate the sustainability level of individuals “What is your ecological footprint?"" and a tool to evaluate your level of eco anxiety “Are you eco anxious?” were a valuable addition to the guide. Secondly, 3 escape games were created, two physical and one digital. They were developed to impart basic scientific knowledge and promote engagement in sustainability. On the Save&Game project website youth workers and teachers can find a compilation of useful tools (toolbox with game instructions and visual materials) for recreating these escape games. Another, very useful materials are 10 Examples of best green practices already implemented in Belgium, Italy and Croatia and 13 action sheets that are helpful for replicating successfully different initiatives on a local level."
