<< Background >>The YOU4Mi project is a multilateral partnership between 6 European countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, Malta, Sweden and Greece). The idea of the project was born to improve the integration of young migrants in Europe, following with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Due to the crises that many young people live in their countries of origin (economic crises, wars, political conflicts, etc), many of them are looking for a way out to start a better life. That is why for many years there have been these migratory movements in several countries around the world. Our project aimed at facilitating the way to all these young people who arrive in a country without knowing anything, so that they could be helped by the local citizenship, thus sustaining a methodology between equals. We also tried to overcome these imbalances by bringing together youth workers, social workers and professionals who worked on a daily basis with the most difficult cases of migrants and refugees. The project has established a context for learning to listen to and better understand the individual needs of local youth and refugees, creating a better match between organizational responses and those needs through the training sessions provided and the R4.<< Objectives >>The primary objective has been the social integration of young migrants through an innovative peer-to-peer program with local youth and the results of this have been more than positive in all six countries of the partnership.The specific objectives have been:1.To carry out some studies and research on the situation of migrants in the partner countries and in the rest of Europe in order to know more closely the situation that is currently being experienced.2.To carry out a training program aimed at young migrants. The professionalism of the partners and the active and professional participation of the non-formal partners allowed us to achieve a very positive impact.3.To carry out a training program for local youth, focused on training in dialogue and appreciation methodologies, dealing with difficult issues, critical thinking, etc. This program was successfully carried out too.4.The objective of gathering and bringing together migrants and local youth in an accessible space so that they could meet, communicate and learn from each other was more than achieved.All these activities have allowed us to really contribute and improve the social integration of migrants in the countries involved and hopefully in many other countries.<< Implementation >>- Research and analysis of the migration situation in each partner country, producing a comprehensive report and a bridge between practical integration and intercultural understanding among young people. - R2 Recruitment and training of young migrants with a program including learning and training activities, such as excursions, reflection exercises, visits, for 25 young migrants in each country.- R3 Recruitment and training of 25 local youngsters per country with an innovative training, all of them ager to collaborate and without prejudice, to achieve a good integration of the young migrants with whom they met in the R4 program. - R4 Migrants and locals program: managed to gather more than 300 between local and migrant youth in all countries of the association (25 migrants and 25 locals per country) in a wonderful program of recreational and cultural activities so that they could exchange their experiences and empower themselves, improving their self-esteem and learning capacity, achieving this involvement among all.- Web page with all the info and materials of the project.- 5 Transnational Meetings and a 5-days Staff Training Event (C1)- 6 Multiplier Events (Madrid, Berlin, Rome, Valletta, Athens, Göteborg) with a large number of professionals in the project sector, school staff, young students and the world of associations active in the field of migration.<< Results >>Thanks to the successful implementation of YOu4Mi, an important intercultural understanding and a better socio-cultural integration at the youth level has been achieved. All this has been very beneficial for the participants and the organizations involved.Thanks to the research and analysis of the migration situation in each partner country, it has been possible to produce a comprehensive report on the needs in each region.The implementation of R2 has allowed us to know the real needs of young migrants to reach a large number of migrants and refugees who have been able to improve and expand their training. Likewise, R3 has provided innovative training to local youth, in order to achieve a good integration of young migrants. The R4 “Migrants and locals program” brought together some 300 local and migrant youth in all countries in a wonderful program of recreational and cultural activities to exchange their experiences and empower themselves, improving their self-esteem and learning capacity. Each organization has been in charge of one pillar of the project, being able to demonstrate a good organization for a transnational project. Also the project website and social networks help others to get to know us at European and international level, to deepen our project and to be able to carry out similar activities with young people and disadvantaged groups. Among all partners we have prepared and disseminated a Final Guide that compiles the most important parts of R2-R3 and R4 in an orderly and simple way, including also all modules for the training of local and migrant youth and guidelines and ideas for activities to implement the peer-to-peer program. This Guide will always be available on the project website and at the disposal of all interested parties who contact the partner organizations and non-formal partners. A way for the peer-to-peer training and integration activities that have been carried out to continue to be carried out in many more contexts.The YOU4Mi project has boosted the internationalization of all partner organizations and non-formal partners, allowing greater recognition of transnational social integration activities to the general public.
