DRAMA BASED TRAINING PROGRAM FOR INCREASING THE GENDER EQUALITY IN PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES

<< Background >>Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PID) must be trained in understanding the relevance of gender issues, identifying inequalities affecting their own lives and implementing actions and being active towards a behavior change of themselves and the rest of the society stakeholders.Main needs addressed were;PID need to improve their knowledge, skills and attitudes towards gender equality to reduce stereotypes and discrimination based on disability-gender issues.PID need accessible and action learning methodologies (drama based) to motivate their participation and acquisition of competences about gender issues and achieve their full inclusion in society.PID’s trainers need specific training to deliver accessible and action-oriented training courses about gender issuesPID need to be skilled in digital tools to be more active in the creation and dissemination of their drama work arts, helping society to overcome stereotypes.On the other hand;Supports (relatives, etc.) need to be aware of the discrimination that PID suffer when approaching gender issues and tools for support them.Society needs to be aware of the challenges that gender issues pose on PID and that their action is needed to achieve a gender-inclusive society<< Objectives >>The project aimed to increase the competences of PID towards gender equality through a Drama Based Training (DBT) approach. General objectives:GO1; To develop an inclusive and accessible DBT methodology (DBTM) based in action-oriented learning principles for increasing the knowledge, skills and attitudinal change of PID towards gender equality, considering their learning difficulties and the impact of gender issues in this collective.GO2; To develop a Trainer ́s Guide for enhancing the implementation of the DBTM.GO3; To develop a set of Training Materials for PID for enhancing their successful involvement in the training process and acquisition of competences.GO4; To develop a Digital Training Tool adapted to PID for the implementation of the DBTM, including a module where PID will be able to record, edit and upload their videos including the created and performed drama based training plays, thus increasing their social and digital skills.GO5; To implement pilot training actions for validating the quality of the training program and its capacity for increasing competences, addressing gender equality issues.GO6; To increase the awareness of related stakeholders and commitment with the exploitation of the project results.<< Implementation >>The project included the implementation of a set of activities, according to the application form, distributed in the following WPs:WP1.
