Young people communicate through traditions

<< Background >>Phoenix Dance Club from Bucharest, Romania, MyCulture from Italy and SERGED-Serik Youth Education Culture Environment and Sport Association from Turkey constantly carry out cultural, dance and sports activities with young peoplewith and without disabilities. The partners found a low degree of acceptance of young people with special needs due to limited possibilities of communication between young people with and without disabilities. Through this project, theorganizations are trying to find new methods of social inclusion through dance and cultural activities of young people with special needs to participate in the shows and events we organize.<< Objectives >>We established 3 concrete objectives, harmonized with the priorities selected in the application:1. During the 12 months of the project, we aim to improve 3 motor coordination skills for the target group of 20 youth.2. Increasing the degree of awareness of the rural community about the phenomenon of social exclusion of young people.3. Increasing the degree of international cooperation between three organizations for implementation of 6 models of good practices to improove the coordination skills.<< Implementation >>In YPCTT project we planned the following activities:- One project management, administrative & suply;- One Kick Off meeting in Romania;- 2 Selection & training sessions in Romania and Turkey;- One Transnational teachers learning in Turkey;- One International Training Camp in Romania;- One International Training Camp in Italy;- 3 implementation & Best practice sessions in Romania, Turkey and Italy;- One Disemination conference in Romania.<< Results >>The main output was the handbook YPCTT good practice as the result of the two International training camp in Romania and Italy.The handbook was created as a part of the “The Young People Communicate Through Traditions” (YPCTT) Erasmus project, a collaborative effort between three European organizations aimed to use cultural traditions, folk dances from participating countries for developing coordination skills of young people with special needs, reducing their dependence on other people and facilitating their social inclusion in the daily life of the community. The main project's goal was to improve 3 motor coordination skills (coordinating steps to music, eye-motor coordination and spatio-temporal orientation) for the target group consisting of 20 young people with special needs and 14 young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Also, through the activities that took place in Romaina, in rural area, the project leaded to an increase of the degree of awareness of the rural community about the phenomenon of social exclusion of young people with special needs from the target group and young people coming from disadvantaged areas, minorities or poor families.
