Rural community ADAPTs to natural forest fires!

"<< Background >>Through this project, we wanted to bring together rural communities in Romania, Bulgaria, Italy and Spain (communities that are considered to be affected by fire danger), to develop the ”Local Adaptation Plan for forest fires” and create internationalized local learning environments by preparing the community population and organizational staff to prevent and limit the effects of natural forest fires.The coordinator of the project and all of the other partners have the same goal in mind: to focus on developing the rural communities, to promote economic, social and cultural actions and mostly to assure the safety of the communities. With this in mind, the partnership wants to address the following needs: GAL NP–lack of emergency centers and permanence centers and defective forest management, ASCAE-to valorise and promote resilient life-skills and for people to know how to face challenges in case of emergency situations, SALVAMOND CLUJ –their need it is to create the framework for rapid and efficient response in case of forest fire emergency, INSTITUTO IKIGAI – They emphasize developing ""European citizenship"" through leadership skills and promoting equal education on environmental issues, BALCHIK-GENERAL TOSHEVO–they have the same n<< Objectives >>The objectives of the project were: 1.Bring the European dimension to the local level in the field of adaptation to natural forest fires through creation of small joint cooperation network capable to respond in an effective manner to local disasters caused by natural forest fires and manage successful projects in this area. 2.Enable rapid and efficient adaptation of partners rural communities to natural forest fires by developing Local Adaptation Plan for natural forest fires aiming to prevent, limit the effects and rehabilitate ecosystems damaged by fire. 3.Motivate and enable partners inclusive rural local community of adults to learn specific technical and life-skills necessary to be resilient and adaptable in the face of forest fires disasters through effective learning sessions based on “Local Adaptation Plan for forest fires” and additional didactical materials by using mobile and practical learning.4.Raise awareness about climate change effects and adaptation on natural forest fires through communicating and transfer of the project results to similar communities and interested stakeholders at all levels.<< Implementation >>A1: Project ManagementA2: Identify a network of partners capable to respond in an effective manner to local disasters caused by forest fires and to advice/intervene in case of similar events into a peer country. A3: Participate into an international workshop held in Italy and hosted by ASCAEA4: Develop conent for the document Local Adaptation Plan for preventing and limit the consequences of natural forest fires and translate it in all partners languages.
