<< Background >>We submitted the project in response to the urgent need to address the negative influence of media-driven beauty standards on young women’s self-esteem and mental well-being. Our analysis showed that girls aged 14–18 are particularly vulnerable to body dissatisfaction, insecurity, and emotional stress caused by unrealistic portrayals of beauty online and in popular culture. The project sought to respond to these needs by providing youth workers and educators with structured educational materials, training, and digital tools to support young women in building resilience against harmful media messages. It also targeted young women directly by offering opportunities to develop critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and confidence in their natural appearance.Additionally, the application addressed the needs of partner organisations, which required innovative methods, scalable educational resources, structured mentorship models to expand their work with youth and communities. By combining expertise from healthcare, education, creative methodologies, community engagement, the project aimed to promote natural beauty, strengthen media literacy, foster healthier perceptions of self-worth among young women across partner countries.<< Objectives >>The project aimed to empower young women aged 14 to 18 by strengthening their self-esteem, promoting a positive body image, and improving their mental well-being through the concept of natural beauty. It sought to provide youth workers with concrete educational materials, a structured training programme, and innovative methods to support girls in developing critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and resilience against harmful beauty stereotypes. A key objective was to create an online educational platform, BeYou Bite-Sized Knowledge, offering interactive learning modules and self-assessment tools, accessible across different socio-economic and cultural contexts. The project also aimed to implement awareness campaigns on social media to challenge false ideals of beauty and to establish local activities where young women could connect, share experiences, and receive mentorship. By combining health education, creative pedagogical methods, and digital tools, the project intended to ensure that young women gain practical skills, improved self-confidence, and the ability to critically evaluate media messages, while also equipping youth workers with sustainable resources for long-term impact.<< Implementation >>The project was implemented through four structured work packages over a twelve-month period. First, we carried out project management and dissemination activities, which included establishing a project management office, organizing a kick-off meeting in Plzeň, a mid-term meeting, and regular online coordination meetings, and preparing the final report. Second, we developed and tested the BeYou learning materials by analysing the situation in partner countries, designing educational modules on media literacy, natural beauty, and emotional intelligence, and creating the digital platform BeYou Bite-Sized Knowledge. Third, we implemented a “train the trainers” programme for youth workers, where structured workshops and micro-learning modules were delivered to build their capacity in mentoring young women. Fourth, we organized local implementation activities, where young women participated in awareness campaigns, workshops, and open community events aimed at promoting natural beauty and strengthening self-confidence. Throughout the project, partners also launched coordinated social media campaigns, produced toolkits for youth workers, and facilitated peer-support spaces for young women. Target groups benefitted from the results.<< Results >>The project produced several concrete outputs and measurable results. We developed a complete set of BeYou learning materials, including educational modules on natural beauty, media literacy, emotional intelligence, adapted into micro-learning formats for flexible use in schools, youth centres. An online educational platform, BeYou Bite-Sized Knowledge, was created and launched, providing interactive resources, self-assessment tools, a virtual space for young women to share experiences. A structured “train the trainers” programme was delivered to youth workers, equipping them with innovative teaching methodologies, toolkits, a best practices brochure, enabling them to support girls in developing self-confidence, critical thinking skills. We also organized local implementation activities in all project countries, where more than one hundred young women participated in workshops, awareness sessions, mentorship activities focused on positive self-image, resilience against media stereotypes. Social media campaigns were carried out across partner regions, reaching a wide audience and spreading messages that challenged unrealistic beauty standards. The project established a transnational network of educators, youth workers and NGOs.
