"The rapid growth of Data Journalism and Data Communication in European higher education and professional training is fueled by an overwhelming surge of digital data. While media organizations have established specialized data journalism units, many institutions struggle to find professionals equipped with the scientific and systematic skills required to leverage data-driven, AI-enhanced communication effectively. The DAPHnE project aims to bridge this gap by fostering multidisciplinary knowledge exchange and promoting innovative teaching and learning in Data Journalism and Communication. Its key objectives include:●Defining the Professional Profile: Establishing a clear framework for the competencies required in Data Journalism and Communication (WP2).●Developing Modular Courses: Creating short, flexible ""learning pills"" for higher education students and professionals seeking to enhance their data communication skills (WP3).●Assessing Competencies: Implementing a qualification framework for evaluating skills, with ICDL certifications available through UAH, an official test center (WP4).●Providing Online Education: Hosting MOOCs and digital resources on an open-access platform for a broad range of learners (WP5).●Launching Advanced Education: Piloting an ISCED-7 (Master’s level) course in Data Journalism and Communication (WP6).●Expanding Vocational Training: Adapting modular courses into an ISCED-5 (short-cycle VET) program to support skill development in vocational education (WP7).To validate these educational pathways, two pilot programs will be conducted within a collaborative academic-business network, ensuring the project’s outputs address the needs of graduates, vocational learners, journalists, and data-driven communicators. This structured, adaptable, and industry-aligned approach will help cultivate a new generation of professionals skilled in data-centric storytelling and communication."
