<< Background >>We applied for this project because of the underrepresentation of women in the field of entrepreneurship across Europe. According to Eurostat, only 23.7% of entrepreneurs in Spain, 30.5% in the Netherlands, and 32.6% in Croatia are women. This highlights a significant gender gap that needs to be addressed, especially when it comes to young women. Through this project, we aimed to inspire women at a young age in entrepreneurship, as the earlier they can be inspired, the more dedicated and committed they will become. Therefore, we wanted to create a project that empowers girls aged 13 to 18 by providing them with entrepreneurial skills and encouraging them to pursue entrepreneurship as a viable career option. Through practical tools, mentorship from female role models, and non-formal learning opportunities, we sought to address the need for gender diversity in entrepreneurship, contribute to economic growth, and inspire a new generation of female entrepreneurs. This project is not only about improving employability but also about encouraging confidence, innovation, and leadership among young women.<< Objectives >>The primary objective of the project was to empower young women, aged 13 to 18, to explore entrepreneurship and develop the skills necessary to start and manage their own businesses. We aimed to increase awareness of the opportunities available in the (social) entrepreneurial world, especially for girls who may not typically be exposed to such possibilities. By doing so, we wanted to address the gender gap in entrepreneurship and contribute to a more balanced representation of women in business.Furthermore, the project aimed to provide youth workers with the resources and training to inspire and guide girls toward entrepreneurship. We also aimed to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment where young women could network, collaborate, and learn practical skills. In the long term, we hope to encourage a generation of confident, skilled, and innovative young female entrepreneurs who can contribute to economic growth and gender equality.<< Implementation >>Key activities implemented:GBC Toolbox: A practical toolbox with non-formal learning activities to inspire girls aged 13–18 to explore entrepreneurial opportunities. The toolbox includes exercises on topics like finance, personal skills, marketing, sustainability, and planning. There are two versions: one targeted for the girls and one guiding youth workers on how to use the tools and activities. GBC Database of Female Role Models: A database of 22 inspiring female entrepreneurs from the partner regions, who were willing to share their stories to inspire young women. Girl Boss Bootcamp: A bootcamp to bring together young women, youth workers, and female entrepreneurs for hands-on learning sessions organised by each partner. The bootcamp combined several activities developed in the toolbox and the database. Also two transnational meetings were held to facilitate the discussion of planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the project’s progress, ensuring alignment with the project’s goals. Moreover, during the project duration, we engaged in promotional activities (e.g. online flyers, social media posts, direct contact with youth organisations and schools) to recruit participants and raise awareness about the project’s goals. << Results >>Key outputs and results:1 GBC Toolbox: A toolbox with 15 activities focused on entrepreneurship, divided among 5 categories: Getting to know your inner entrepreneur, Idea generation, Valuing ideas, Business idea & Business model. This toolbox is available in 4 languages (English, Dutch, Croatian, and Spanish) and in two versions for the two target groups: girls and youth workers. Moreover, the toolbox includes a variety of online and offline activities. 2 Female Role Model Database: A regional database of inspiring female entrepreneurs who provided mentorship and guidance to young women. The database includes profiles of 22 female entrepreneurs from Croatia, Spain and the Netherlands. The female role models made entrepreneurship more relatable and accessible by showcasing success stories from similar backgrounds.3 Girl Boss Bootcamp: A 3-day bootcamp in each partner country, where young women and youth workers participated in non-formal learning activities and connected with female role models. This event helped boost entrepreneurial skills and fostered collaboration.Overall, the project raised awareness about female entrepreneurship, improved youth worker capacity, and empowered girls to explore entrepreneurial opportunities.
