<< Background >>Fundación Cibervoluntarios is an atypical non-profit organization that has been working for more than 23 years to ensure that all people have the same opportunity to access, learn about and use technology as a means to alleviate social gaps, generate social innovation and empower citizens. The idea of this project was part of a pilot program carried out in Spain at a national level, Verifica2 (Verified) in collaboration with the fact checker Newtral Education, to help promote critical thinking in educational centers. Through DoCHeCK! we wanted to address the problem posed by misinformation at a European level, in order to detect, prevent and combat its spread and its effects through training aimed at one of the groups that use the Internet and Social Networks the most, and who are also one of the most vulnerable: namely schoolchildren aged 14 to 18. To complete the circle, we wanted to include their close circle of parents and educators, since we believe that they should support them on this path. The aim is to provide them with tools to detect and prevent malicious news and avoid misinformation.<< Objectives >>The following 4 general objectives were expected to be achieved:OG1-Help detect and combat disinformation through digital tools;OG2-Empower schoolchildren aged 14 to 18, especially those in particularly vulnerable situations, through training in ICT tools to detect and prevent disinformation and fake news;OG3-Empower parents and educators of students, providing tools and recommendations to help adolescents detect and prevent disinformation;OG4-Include the methodology and resources created in the curricula of school education centres in Europe. In addition to this, the project had 3 specific objectives with their respective results: OE1- the creation of a pedagogical methodology based on focus groups and high-quality Open Educational Resources in 5 languages and in various formats (face-to-face, online and MOOC); OE2- quality assurance and usability report of the methodology and the OER; OE3- impact achieved beyond the consortium in communication, awareness-raising and dissemination activities.<< Implementation >>Four transnational meetings were held between the project partners for proper implementation; Seven focus groups were held, with the participation of 53 people and a fake news lab with 80 people, including the different target groups of the project (students, parents and educators) as well as journalists and fact-checkers for the elaboration of the Methodological Framework on which to make OER; a joint face-to-face training of staff from the partner organisations was organised with the participation of 11 experts to facilitate the implementation of local training activities on OER in each country of the consortium. In addition, a total of 263 secondary school students participated in OER testing activities and 57 parents and educators participated in 6 local activities to test OER for parents and teachers. In addition, a MOOC took place simultaneously in all countries participating in the project, gathering a total of 493 students. Finally, 5 multiplier events were organised, with the participation of 370 people in total, to widen the impact of the project outside the consortium.<< Results >>-Study analysis on good practices and tools to fight disinformation: full version in English, and short version in Spanish, the latter not initially planned, but added to increase the impact of the project.-OER on digital tools and good practices to fight disinformation for students aged 14 to 18, in 5 languages (guide for facilitators, presentation and mini-guide reminder)-OER aimed at parents and educators.
