Green Skills for sustainable Eco-Boat Builders

<< Objectives >>The main objective of this project is to advance the development of green skills in the innovative and sustainable growth sector of the nautical industry. Although new start-up companies are emerging that use sustainable materials and methods, the vast majority of boats are still being built with unsustainable GRP materials that are not recyclable and pose a great environmental threat. The project aims to raise awareness and exchange green skills needs within the boat building sector.<< Implementation >>Through three consecutive activities the projects aims to achieve its objectives:1. Three Eco-boat building companies who each use different sustainable materials and methods to construct the vessels, will exchange their knowledge and skills in three Skill-Shadowing workshops. 2. A research and development activity will produce a guide, a directory and skills identification.3. The Guide will be disseminated and implemented within the boat building sector and in VET schools and universities.<< Results >>The project will produce- reports from the Skills Shadowing workshops- an “Eco Boat Building Guide and Directory”- raised awareness and improved connectivity amongst Eco-boat builders and conventional boat builders- identification of the necessary green skills for sustainable boat building methods- networking between the industry and the educational VET and Higher Education sectors.
