Using agile, interactive learning environments to promote work-based learning in cVET

<< Background >>INTERFACE supports work-based learning (WBL) and fosters VET by providing learners with a set of courses and infographics which enhance the competences of the learners and especially their transversal skills. Work-based learning is an effective means of supporting Continuing Vocational Education and Training (CVET). CVET in the workplace has the potential to promote inclusion and social cohesion, combat unemployment and underemployment, and support enterprise and national policies and strategies for innovation, competitiveness, and growth. Interactive infographics are a new type of learning environment that is attractive and engaging for learners and can be used in formal and non-formal settings.VET teachers, trainers and work-based instructors in a wide variety of settings, play a central role in WBL in CVET.<< Objectives >>The objectives of the INTERFACE project are:1. Promote the acquisition of key transversal skills through the use of alternative pedagogical resources in work-based learning settings2. Support VET professionals from within education and work to develop their own digital and pedagogic skills to create challenge-based learning resources in an interdisciplinary way3. Develop an accreditation model for the validation and recognition of transversal skills through the use of micro credentials and digital badges4. Create a system for the communication of transversal skills through a peer-led Community of Practice<< Implementation >>The INTERFACE project implemented an in-service training course will support VET tutors. The idea was to harness their potential of online learning. The project provides a comprehensive in-service training programme with two parts. Part A focuses on building the digital pedagogic skills of VET tutors and part B focuses on models for the identification, recognition and communication of transversal skills. The tutur are facilitators of learning in remote, online environments, developers of new digital media-rich learning resources and validators of transversal skills. In addtion to that the proejct provides an INTERFACE Compendium of Interactive Infographics for developing key transversal skills. The infographics go hand in hand with a digital training approach and key transversal competences like digital literacy, entrepreneurial spirit, critical and creative thinking, leadership, innovation, problem solving, teamwork, work ethic, communication and inter-generational relationships are addressed. Moreover, an INTERFACE MOOC and Community of Practice was implemented that presents the in-service training course for VET tutors, learners and business representatives to support transnational exchange of best practice, provide peer support to ensure a successful training intervention.<< Results >>The results of Interface are the In-Service training with a huge variety of modules, the Infographic and the recognition system behind it with is supportetd by the PART A and B of the In-Service training. Ant the third big result is the Massive open online course (MOOC) of Interface. The concrete learning materials and als pedagogial module are available like all results of INTERFACE as OER for free under CC-BY-SA license.
