<< Background >>Pacto Verde and Pre Edukaciu Sabinova applied for this project for several fundamental reasons that reflect our deep concern about the challenges related to water retention all over Europe specifically in Spain and in Slovakia. We recognise that water is a vital resource that sustains life, influences greenhouse gases and plays a crucial role in environmental stability. The issue of water protection is not often discussed in the context of global warming, and that was one of the main reasons why we got involved in the project. Our motivation for applying this project is based on the urgency of addressing these problems and providing practical and affordable solutions that benefit both society and the environment.First and foremost, the basis of our application lies in the understanding that water is essential to life itself. Not only is it necessary for human consumption, but it also plays a critical role in the growth of vegetation and ecological balance. We recognise that without adequate water, life in all its forms is threatened, and it is our responsibility to address this fundamental issue to ensure the survival and well-being of present and future generations.<< Objectives >>Our project is based on the belief that it is essential to work closely with local and municipal authorities. Effective implementation of water retention solutions requires the active participation of communities and coordination with local governments. We are committed to working closely with municipalities, providing clear and practical guidelines to improve the situation in different regions. The project focuses on identifying positive and negative examples in water management. We want to highlight successful initiatives that can serve as role models while pointing out ineffective practices that should be avoided. Learning from the experiences of other countries and communities is crucial to inform our recommendations and ensure that we are promoting proven and effective solutions.The need to build public awareness of the importance of water retention is another crucial reason for our application. We understand that a lack of public understanding and awareness of these issues can hinder efforts to implement effective solutions. Through awareness-raising and education strategies, we aim to engage the community in the protection and sustainable management of water.<< Implementation >>In the implementation of our project, a central and pivotal activity has been developing and creating two educational handbooks ‘Water is Life’ focused on water and its crucial role in the environment. This activity serves as the backbone of our project, encompassing nonformal and informal education within our organisations. The primary objective of this initiative is to prepare educational material for everyone interested in PDF format and present it in multiple languages—Spanish, Slovak, and English; each partner has made its handbook, which complements each other, and each has been translated into the 3 languages. These comprehensive handbooks aim to provide a valuable resource that not only educates but also promotes awareness and action regarding water conservation.The decision to create handbooks stems from the collaboration and expertise of both partners involved in the project. Drawing on their knowledge, the handbooks are designed to incorporate a diverse range of content, including positive and negative examples of water conservation practices. By presenting real-life cases, the handbooks aim to engage readers and offer practical insights into effective water management. It goes beyond a mere compilation of information << Results >>One of the central tangible outputs of the project is the production of an educational handbook per partner. These comprehensive resources encapsulate a wealth of knowledge on water conservation, encompassing positive and negative examples, theoretical insights into the small water cycle, and its impact on the landscape. The handbooks serve as an instrumental tool in disseminating critical information to a broader audience, including communities, policymakers, and environmental enthusiasts.The creation of the two handbooks is not merely an end in itself but rather a means to an end—namely, the education and skill development of the individuals involved in its production. The hands-on involvement of participants and employees in crafting the content, curating visuals, and designing the handbooks have resulted in a practical and immersive learning experience. This experiential learning approach not only imparts knowledge but also enhances competencies in content creation, graphic design, and environmental communication.
