<< Background >>The NaturalOrigins Project was initiated to address the pressing needs of young people with migrant backgrounds, who often face significant challenges in social inclusion and economic participation. High rates of unemployment, lack of entrepreneurial opportunities, and limited access to upskilling programs were identified as critical barriers for this marginalized group.Recognizing these gaps, the project aimed to provide targeted solutions through entrepreneurship education, focusing on the trade of natural products. By equipping young migrants with entrepreneurial skills and fostering cultural exchange, the project sought to empower them to become self-reliant and active members of society. Additionally, the project addressed the broader need for inclusive, non-discriminatory communities by promoting dialogue and shared learning between migrants and local populations.<< Objectives >>The NaturalOrigins Project aimed to foster social inclusion and economic empowerment for young people with migrant backgrounds by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. The primary objective was to create pathways for these individuals to develop small-scale businesses (or critical thinking about entrepreneurship), particularly in the trade of natural products, thereby enhancing their financial independence and social integration.Additionally, the project sought to strengthen the capacity of educators and trainers working with marginalized groups by providing them with innovative tools and methodologies to support the target audience effectively. A further objective was to contribute to policy development by generating evidence-based recommendations for fostering entrepreneurship among young migrants. By achieving these goals, the project aimed to create a ripple effect, promoting inclusive communities, reducing unemployment rates, and supporting sustainable economic development at local, national, and European levels.<< Implementation >>To achieve the objectives of the NaturalOrigins Project, we implemented a range of carefully designed activities across multiple work packages:Entrepreneurship Training Programme: We developed and delivered comprehensive training modules tailored to young people with migrant backgrounds. These modules focused on practical entrepreneurial skills, such as business planning, marketing, and financial management, with a specific emphasis on the trade of natural products.Trainings and Workshops for Educators and Young People: Interactive workshops were conducted to train educators in innovative methodologies for working with marginalized groups.Policy Recommendations Development: Through research and collaboration with stakeholders, we created a Policy Recommendations Paper addressing systemic barriers to entrepreneurship for young migrants. This document provides actionable strategies to policymakers and advocates for inclusive policies.Dissemination and Awareness: We organized multiplier events, and social media campaigns to share the project’s outcomes with a wider audience. These activities raised awareness about the project’s objectives and encouraged the adoption of its results by other organizations and stakeholders.<< Results >>The NaturalOrigins Project delivered several tangible outputs and impactful results that directly addressed its objectives:1.Entrepreneurship Training Programme: A comprehensive training curriculum was developed and successfully implemented. This included modular learning materials on entrepreneurial skills, with a focus on natural product trade.2.Trainings and Workshops: Multiple workshops were conducted, equipping educators with innovative tools to work effectively with marginalized groups and training young people with migrant/ refugee backgrounds in practical entrepreneurial skills. 3.Policy Recommendations Paper: A detailed and evidence-based policy recommendations document was created, outlining actionable strategies to support entrepreneurship among young migrants. 4.Digital Learning Platform: A user-friendly Online Learning Space was developed, hosting training materials, resources, and best practices. This platform ensures that the project’s impact continues beyond its initial implementation phase.5.Dissemination and Awareness: Through social media campaigns, and multiplier events, the project reached a broad audience, including NGOs, educators, and policymakers.
