"<< Background >>Through our various past projects, particularly between Belgium and Bulgaria, we observed that young people's perception of certain societal issues differs (in Eastern or Western European countries). Our schools, most of which are quite small, are located in rural areas or small towns, and our students, who are relatively isolated from large urban centers, are not sufficiently exposed to diversity. It is therefore essential for students with profiles like those in our schools to meet in order to broaden their perspectives on the problems faced by other young people, but also on the positive solutions developed in different countries to achieve greater inclusion. It is necessary to expose them to the life experiences of other European youth to avoid withdrawal and rejection of others. We aimed to develop values of democracy, tolerance, critical thinking, and knowledge of European politics. We wanted to improve students' language skills and their competencies in new technologies while creating useful educational resources for teachers.<< Objectives >>The main objective was to allow students from schools with different historical backgrounds and educations (from the former Eastern and Western blocs) to challenge their preconceived notions, educational stereotypes, overcome them, and achieve greater solidarity, understanding of others, tolerance, and inclusion. To achieve this, we aimed to use film media and contemporary media techniques that appeal to today's youth. We wanted to offer students the opportunity to reflect on various themes related to the discriminations they encounter daily (racism, homophobia, sexism, bullying, economic segregation, social and educational exclusion, LGBTQIA+ topics, nationalism, migration…) through meetings (with associations, filmmakers, specialized training), by analyzing films specific to our countries, through debates on these sociological themes, through introspection by creating short video clips, and especially by writing the collaborative script for the project's final short film.<< Implementation >>Meetings with associations fighting against discrimination (LGBTQIA+ rights associations, associations providing educational support for people with disabilities, associations combating school dropout and social exclusion, associations offering assistance to people facing life difficulties), research on the actions of MEPs regarding inclusion, participation in film festivals, meetings with film professionals, film critiques using jointly developed analysis grids, production of educational sequences and their use in the classroom, organization of in-person and virtual training on cinematic techniques, research on film-related careers and vocabulary, creation of movie posters and trailers ""in the style of"" the films viewed, organization of debates on societal themes related to discrimination, collaborative scriptwriting, active participation in the production of the final short film (set, costumes, framing, sound recording, acting, editing, poster, trailer), participation in role-playing games on film professions, video clips for all the activities mentioned, projection ceremony and Europass certificate distribution.<< Results >>Creation of video clips on various activities.Development of a collaborative short film L’Echo des Silences.Thematic cinema dictionary.A database of educational sequences for using European cinema in the classroom.A database of useful training resources related to cinema.Creation of movie posters, trailers, and dubbing sequences.Project evaluation.A synthesis review and a project website.Development of digital skills through applications such as Calaméo, Padlets, and Genially.Mastery of film production equipment, applications, vocabulary, and techniques related to cinema and filmmaking.Knowledge of European actions promoting inclusion.Awareness of social progress made in various European countries on inclusion concerning issues like racism, harassment, gender relations, and LGBTQIA+.Language skills improvement in French for the Bulgarian and Romanian teams, and in English for the Belgian and French teams.Artistic development, including literary and cinematic creation."
