Facing and dealing with Change: a challenge for future youth around Europe

"<< Background >>As the old Latin expression says ""Facta, non Verba"", that is, ""Actions, not words"", we believed that the process of learning a foreign language strongly depended on the input given to the students. When this included real-life situations and going beyond our borders, the process of learning an L2 became authentic and the student certainly found a real purpose, a ""raison d´etre"". Likewise, dealing with the reasons that grabbed our attention, such as inclusion and diversity and environmental sustainability, helped both our students and the different communities achieved a certain degree of satisfaction as the project itself aimed at developing a way to enhance our students' abilities and opportunities in a changing world. On the other hand, the fact of taking part in a European project definitely helped both students and teachers become more aware of their multiple intelligences, thus helping the former become more independent and realise they could achieve great things. The most relevant priority for us was inclusion and diversity followed by environment and fight against climate change and addressing digital transformation through development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity.<< Objectives >>Life is a melting-pot of cultures. However, quite often, society seems to forget about all these, thus producing negative side-effects that stop our society from advancing from an ethical perspective. Our project has aimed at developing and promoting change among the new generations. Our society needs to change the parameters established until now and make inclusion and diversity the key points in all areas, as well as boosting environmental sustainability through good practices.<< Implementation >>Two workshops on inclusion and diversity and environmental sustainability from the point of view of Bioethics helped our students understand the main issues of our project. Students also found out the human factor behind climate change and were asked to draw a list of the necessary reforms to be adopted by governments and they submitted it in person to the relevant EU bodies in Brussels. Also two workshops on endangered species, a recycling activity and the construction of a garden.<< Results >>The final product was a digital book, which was fed with students' research and results drawn from their teamwork. Different posters and brochures were designed as a way of summing up the different issues dealt with. Students also designed their Erasmus+ project website where they uploaded all the activities done. With this project we aimed at seizing inclusion and diversity to boost human values, raise students' awareness of environmental problems and foment sustainability as well as promoting critical thinking and social action. Likewise, students improved both their ICT and English skills."
