THE ART OF CREATIVE WRITING

<< Background >>This project grew from a successful eTwinning project, The Art of Creative Writing (2021–22), which revealed a shared need among partner schools to promote creativity, cultural heritage, and inclusive education. Discussions between partners identified common challenges, including a decline in language skills following the Covid-19 pandemic. Standardised assessments showed gaps in literacy, prompting a need for a more creative, cross-curricular approach to language learning. In Ireland, new Primary Language curriculum changes also highlighted the role of English and Irish in shaping cultural identity, which aligned with the project's goals. We recognised that enhancing linguistic experiences could also deepen cultural awareness across all countries. Inclusion was a key focus, with participating students coming from diverse ability levels, backgrounds, and communities. The project aimed to boost engagement and learning outcomes through creative expression, shared heritage, and collaborative European experiences.<< Objectives >>Our project aims were to achieve the following:• To foster motivation and engagement of students with art and writing through inclusive group work activities.• To nurture student creativity using a cross-curricular approach, incorporating visual arts and literacy.• To develop students' skills in basic areas such as linguistic competence, both in their mother tongue (for our partnerschools) and in English.• To promote European artistic heritage.• To develop ecological awareness and environmental consciousness in students through the creation of art with recycledmaterials.<< Implementation >>The project launched with virtual meetings where all partners and students introduced themselves, outlined budgets, timelines, responsibilities, and shared project aims. Each mobility focused on distinct educational themes, implemented through interactive workshops, cultural experiences, and student-led activities. In Antalya, partners explored the Turkish education system, engaged in an environmental art exhibition using recycled materials and QR codes, and began website development led by Romanian partners. In Terrassa, students developed linguistic and creative writing skills through gamification, drama-based lessons, and a city-wide Gymkhana. Romania provided hands-on training in virtual and augmented reality and shared best practices for effective dissemination. In Ireland, creative writing and STEM were merged through collaborative art workshops and cultural exchanges. San Clemente featured a VR experience, student-guided cultural sessions, museum-based learning on artistic heritage, an engraving workshop, and a final Kahoot quiz.
