<< Background >>This project application was meticulously prepared to generate comprehensive and sustainable solutions for the social, psychological, and academic needs of students directly affected by the major earthquakes on February 6, 2023. This includes students from our school and those residing in container cities.Due to significant delays in the planned announcement date of the project, a considerable decrease in the number of students in the container city school environment was observed. As a result of this unexpected situation, we regret that we could not fully include students living in container cities as initially envisioned. However, this situation will not cause us to deviate from our project's core objectives; instead, it will strengthen our efforts to adapt to current conditions and provide the most effective solutions.<< Objectives >>To address academic gaps caused by the earthquake and its aftermath, supplementary education programs were implemented. Intensified extra lessons in core subjects and one-on-one tutoring opportunities were provided, helping to rebuild students' academic self-confidence and prepare them for the next educational level.Activities designed to encourage students to build healthy relationships with their peers were organized. Through activities like team games and club work, their sense of belonging was strengthened, communication skills were developed, and self-confidence was regained.Following the disaster, students received comprehensive training on earthquake facts, disaster risks, and preventive measures. Theoretical knowledge was reinforced with drills and interactive workshops, increasing disaster awareness, improving safety skills, and contributing to the development of a disaster-resilient generation.Despite limited resources, opportunities were provided for students to learn about different cultures and perspectives. Art workshops, cultural trips, and informative seminars were organized to nurture creativity, foster cultural tolerance, and encourage them to look to the future with more hope.<< Implementation >>Our project focused on a range of activities to support students' holistic development. We provided skill courses, psychological counseling sessions, and tutoring to address their academic and personal needs. To foster social and artistic growth, we organized music and theater events, alongside trips to Cappadocia and nature excursions. We also held a tree-planting ceremony to boost environmental awareness.Further enriching the project, we pursued international collaborations, offering students the chance to expand their global perspective. We facilitated various mobilities within Romania, Italy, North Macedonia, and Türkiye. These trips enabled students to immerse themselves in different cultures, interact with new people, and experience diverse educational approaches. Cultural exchange was a key focus during these travels, which helped develop students' empathy. Moreover, these international platforms allowed us to conduct earthquake awareness initiatives and share experiences, strengthening global knowledge exchange on disaster preparedness. These mobilities significantly contributed to both the students' personal growth and their sense of global citizenship.<< Results >>Our completed project yielded significant positive results for the students affected by the earthquake:Through various supportive educational programs, psychosocial counseling, and diverse social activities, we observed a notable increase in our students' self-confidence. Their engagement in lessons and overall academic performance improved, leading to higher academic motivation. We also saw significant progress in their relationships with peers and teachers, indicating a strong development in their social skills.Project activities encouraged teachers to collaborate more frequently towards common goals. This process strengthened cooperation among educators, boosting knowledge sharing and creating a more coordinated and supportive learning environment. The international mobilities provided our students with the chance to closely experience different cultures and lifestyles. These experiences helped participants gain a global perspective and significantly increased their intercultural awareness.
