Keen and new in tourism

<< Objectives >>In the Year of Skills, we want to provide new avenues to strengthen the curriculum and on-the-job-training related to the hospitality industry in order to meet the needs of the industry and reverse the downward trend of applicants to vocational training in this sector. In doing so, we hope to contribute to enhancing the status of the hospitality sector, and prepare both the industry and the workforce for the twin transition toward a sustainable tourism industry.<< Implementation >>This project aims at testing out new ways of collaborating both in the school system and in the industry itself. The higher aims are to reverse the negative trend by introducing a more flexible and innovative curriulum to entice more learners to choose hospitality as a career. We also want to increase the status of the industry. More skilled workers are part of the solution for such a status increase.<< Results >>Optimal results would be to introduce a curriculum that is inspirational to learners and educators alike, that teaches skills for a sustainable tourist industry and give potential new workers both pride and confidence in their job. We also want to bridge the gap between the expectations of learners and workers, and the expectations and needs of the industry. Ultimately, we hope to contribute to thriving local communities with a sustainable tourist sector.
