Recycling Stories through Electronic Devices - A project-based e-learning strategy to enhance key competences in visual communication based on environmental consciousness and cultural diversity

<< Background >>The Re-Stor-E project is part of non-specialised adult education field. It is targeting trainers who work for the social and professional integration of groups in situations of vulnerability, particularly those who have migrated to Europe. This project was based on a fundamental need for innovative teaching tools and methods that can adapted to multicultural contexts. It aims to address both the needs of the beneficiaries (people in a situation of social and cultural integration) in terms of acquiring digital techniques and knowledge of their environment in the host society, and the needs of trainers, facilitators and social workers in order to fill the lack of complex visual methods and digital tools available for them to support their beneficiaries’ integration. These needs have become all the more important in the post-Covid period, which has highlighted the role of digital technology in professional and social life on one hand and the important challenges of the environmental protection consciousness on the other hand.<< Objectives >>The main aims of this project were:- to have a rich, concrete and modular learning tool that allows the development of creative processes and the acquisition of digital techniques for groups in situations of social vulnerability and whose access to remote and visual means of communication is difficult;- to raise awareness of recycling and the environment issues in the host country among groups in a situation of economic and social vulnerability;- to facilitate the discovery of creative and digital skills for social and cultural integration.<< Implementation >>The activities of this project mainly consisted in:- Exchanging and sharing good practices in social inclusion pedagogies and artistic and digital techniques between civil society partners from four different countries (France, Germany, Hungary and Italy) through the organisation of five transnational training courses - Experimenting concretely activities and methods proposed by the project partners on a local scale (through local workshops in the four partner’s countries and at a transnational test training); - Developing the structure and the contents of a flexible and modular training curriculum that can answer to specific training needs for groups in situations of social vulnerability.<< Results >>This project has produced several concrete results:- a learning curriculum, available online, structured by four phases (Initiation, Discovery, Creation, Digitalisation Phases) and composed of 33 activities classified by topics and pedagogical functions and available in 5 languages (English, French, Italian, German and Hungarian);- a website that reports on the project process and provides free access to the curriculum resources with a user guide and that allows interactions between potential users;- a communication interface with other civil society organisations and/or trainers in the countries concerned by the project, thanks to a Facebook page and a YouTube channel which allow a direct communication on the results of the project but also a follow-up of their impact;- the consolidation of a close collaboration between the project partners and mutual enrichment through the exchange of good practices that has opened up further collaborations on new projects.
