<< Background >>The project addresses the need for an inclusive insight into the needs of Alpine youth for a quality life in the Alpine region. In 2023-24, Slovenia held the presidency of the Alpine Convention. The theme of the presidency is quality of life. With our project, we wanted to put young people at the forefront and find out what it is that constitutes quality of life for young people in the Alpine region. We also wanted to create a stronger link between research, practice, and policy in the field of youth and sustainable development. We wanted to give young people the experience of drafting policy demands and presenting them to delegations from the Alpine countries to strengthen their political participation and active citizenship. We also wanted to reinforce the values and objectives of the EU with a view to greater inter-state integration and international civic engagement. The project addressed the needs of our target groups, which are: to strengthen the knowledge and skills of the partner organizations in the field of quality of life, to empower young people in Alpine regions, and to raise awareness among decision-makers and the public about the needs and challenges of young people (to influence policymaking). << Objectives >>Main objective was to empower young people from SI, GER, FR and LCHT to become active citizens, to support them in making political demands, and to prepare them to speak in front of decision-makers. We wanted to enable them to participate as citizens in formal and informal activities at local and international levels and focus on advocacy for EU values and objectives.Strengthen partner organizations for transnational and cross-sectoral cooperation in the field of quality of life as a tool for the realization of EU values. Educate to understand the needs of young people to better influence youth and Alpine policy. Important objective was to upgrade competences in youth work The 3rd set of objectives was: to raise awareness among decision-makers, professionals and the general public about the implementation of EU values and objectives, approaches to address environmental, economic and social challenges, and to ensure quality of life in the Alps. Climate change is having an increasing impact on the Alpine space, so we addressed the EU's environmental objectives. We linked research, practice, and policy and produced an article for a scientific journal. Results have contributed to the establishment of a dialogue with decision-makers<< Implementation >>Strengthening partner organizationsThe Quality of Life seminar featured presentations by experts from ESPON (Sandra Di Biaggio), the Living Labs (Carlo Sessa) and the Institute for Systems Integration Studies and Quality of Life in Policy Making (Tomaž Miklavčič) from the MNVP.
