Oral traditions and Intangible Heritage

"<< Background >>The oral traditions and intagible heritage are central to the human experience. We express ourselves and communicate through different types of stories, from novels and newsletters to fairy tales and conversations with friends, and it is by ""telling a good story"" that we can connect with other people. The formal study of oral traditions have their origins in the literature and offers an analytical framework for understanding the standard techniques used in other media such as advertising or film to develop and communicate an effective narrative. Oral transmission of ancestral knowledge becomes a very important learning method to achieve integral development, by allowing recognition of cultural potentialities and values.<< Objectives >>Project objectives:1.To contribute to the professionalization and to the economic development based on the use of intangible heritage in rural areas through a new training profile. 2.To promote the European rural cultural heritage transmission and to contribute to improve the current professional qualifications thanks to the new competences created by the project.3.To raise awareness of the importance of rural cultural heritage at the local, national and European levels and its reciprocal/mutual recognition, through the practice of heritage interpretation in tourism and educational services.4.Protect the oral traditions and develop new strategies for preserving them generating a special awareness about intangible heritage.5.Promote the oral traditions as a resource for the employability of adults in rural areas.<< Implementation >>The project plan to develop the following activities:1.Two project results:a.Methodological guide of the new competences in Oral Heritage: This is a Training of trainers’ manual with the new professional qualification expected to be recognized. It is the material for teachers, trainers and educators (formal and non-formal levels) and for adult education authorities.b.e-Learning Platform: will inform and offer knowledge and learning tools on rural heritage interpretation to students and general public through a Learning Management System which includes e-Learning2.Three training activities as pilot training activity (one in each partner country). A three-days duration training course is planned with the aim of providing training of trainers.3.Three Multiplier events (one in each partner country) are designed for the broadcasting and assessment of the project results.<< Results >>The project aims at producing the minimum following results:- Development of a structured training course, aiming at the adult training in the rural areas, using an innovative methodology based on blending the theory with workshops and activities taking place “in situ”, and also having as the main trainers/teachers the adults who have that traditional knowledge. - Creation of pedagogic materials needed for the development of this training course.- Creation of the required promotional material.- Design of a specific software where all the project partners will be able to share materials, experiences and results of the project in their different stages and facilitate their dissemination in the European area. - Design of a “Program to transfer traditional knowledge for sustainability” which will have a clear goal to increase and multiply this knowledge. The people responsible for multiplying will be those who were trained in the training course; in this way we will guarantee a first step to carry on the transfer of the traditional knowledge. This program will be based on the practice of at least one relevant traditional activity in the local area of each of the partners’ countries taking part in the project."
