Don't waste food: the teenovators

Our project is inspired by the teenovators that took part in a contest organized on May 2019in Milano thanks to “Fondazione Francesca Rava - NPH Italia”. Such contest called uponyoung teenagers to come up with projects and ideas to change the current food system andtackle global issues in principle with the Sustainable Development Objectives drafted byUNO. New “Greta Thunbergs” are willing to make a change, come up with innovativesolutions for the environment safeguard and encourage more sustainable life styles. Ourteenovators are students coming from cooking, hospitality and tourism management schoolslocated in 5 different countries. They have united, representing 6 schools in total, in order tostudy how circular economy can help avoid food waste, hence the title “Don’t waste food”.The specific goals of the projects are:Increasing students’ success rate in scientific subject (STEAME, scienze, mathematics,technology, art and economics) through the aid of circular economy as applied to food andnutrition.Enhancing skills and competences to do with active citizenship, respect of the environmentand the safeguard of ecosystems through the aid of circular economy as applied to food andnutrition.Strengthening foreign languages skills in STEAME (food micro language)Improving teachers’ skills and competences in proactive didactics and pedagogy necessary tocreate encouraging, thrilling, innovative and cutting-edge learning environments.Proposed activities to reach such goals:One training course for teachers on circular economyOne training course for teachers on CLIL methodology in light of the new Mediation andInteraction descriptors.These two training courses are going to be offered in Italy in the two partner schools.Four student places in four different countries and four different schools.The results we wish to achieve are both tangible and intangible; yet, we wish to make bothmeasurable. By tangible we mean concrete results: UDA, ebook, exhibits, website, padlet,videos and the resource from the training course. As for intangible, we mean the improvementof students’ skills with a focus on STEAME (scientific, artistic and social competences) andthough foreign languages. Also, improving teachers’ skills: better planning, educational,methodological and strategic competences.The methodology used for all activities is diversified:taught classproactive pedagogypersonalized and individualized didacticscooperative learningThe eTwinnig platform shall support all the steps of the project.As for the dissemination, the dissemination Erasmus Plus platform shall be used: a planinserted in the project follows the Annex II Guidelines.The sustainability shall be guaranteed thanks to the realization of other European projects atthe end of the life cycle of the project.
