GREEN SPORTS AND GREEN ART FOR A GREEN EUROPE

<< Background >>We submitted this project due to the growing environmental challenges and the deteriorating health of the population as a result of modern lifestyles, which lead to excessive use of natural resources and a sedentary way of life. The current lifestyle, based on technological advancement and urbanization, results not only in increased consumption and depletion of natural resources but also in reduced physical activity, contributing to obesity and other health problems. The need to address these issues has become urgent, especially in light of alarming statistics on obesity and environmental degradation in Europe. Our aim was to engage the younger generation, which is key to Europe's future, in activities promoting sustainable living and environmental protection. The project focused on raising awareness of European cultural heritage and encouraging environmentally responsible behavior through educational activities, sports, and artistic programs. These activities were designed not only to develop the participants' personal and professional skills but also to contribute to long-term sustainability and cultural integration within the European Union.<< Objectives >>The aim of the project was to improve students' awareness of sustainability and environmental issues, with the goal of increasing their participation in activities related to environmental protection and climate change. We aimed to engage students, who were often socially and economically disadvantaged, more actively in these areas, thereby increasing their chances of meaningful participation in society. The project also aimed to enhance the professional skills of teachers in sustainable education and ecological approaches, which would contribute to improved teaching quality and better integration of environmental topics into the school curriculum. As part of the project, we planned to integrate ecological approaches into all subjects and create methodological guides to help teachers more effectively incorporate environmental education into their teaching. Emphasis was placed on developing students' creative and practical skills, particularly through sports and artistic activities linked to environmental themes. Ultimately, we wanted to contribute to the creation of a more sustainable and culturally aware generation capable of facing the challenges of the modern world.<< Implementation >>As part of the project, we implemented a range of activities focused on raising awareness of environmental issues and sustainable development. In the first phase, we concentrated on training teachers, who acquired the professional skills and knowledge necessary to integrate ecological topics into their teaching. These teachers subsequently created educational materials and guides that were used in student instruction. We also organized workshops and training sessions for students, where they learned about sustainability through practical activities, such as sports and artistic programs with an environmental focus. These activities were designed to give students a deeper understanding of environmental protection while also developing their creative and physical abilities. We also held several international meetings, where project partners exchanged experiences and discussed best practices for implementing ecological approaches in education. The aim of these activities was not only to educate but also to motivate the younger generation to actively engage in addressing environmental issues, thereby contributing to a more sustainable future.<< Results >>As part of the project, we achieved several concrete outcomes that significantly contributed to the development of environmental awareness and the promotion of sustainable development among students and teachers. One of the main outputs was the creation of a set of educational materials focused on environmental education, which included methodological guides and teaching kits adapted for different subjects, such as physical education and visual arts. These materials were designed to enable teachers to effectively integrate ecological approaches into their teaching.Another significant outcome was the practical activities for students, which included sports and artistic projects with an emphasis on sustainability, such as environmentally-focused sports events and art workshops.
