Footprint Innovators: Schools Leading Sustainability

<< Objectives >>By implementing this project, we aim to empower schools to measure and reduce their ecological footprint, fostering sustainable behaviors among students and staff. Our objectives include developing a user-friendly digital tool for ecological assessment, integrating it into various subjects, and promoting design thinking to identify and implement sustainability solutions. This initiative will enhance environmental awareness and encourage actionable change within educational communities.<< Implementation >>- Development of a digital School Footprint calculator and a methodological framework for teachers.- Training for teachers on sustainability education, Design Thinking, and interdisciplinary learning.- Pilot testing in schools in hands-on sustainability projects.- Student-led initiatives and whole-school sustainability actions.- International and local student-led events showcasing sustainability initiatives to ensure long-term impact and inspire wider adoption in schools and communities.<< Results >>The project will equip schools with a School Footprint Calculator, a teacher training framework, and student-led sustainability initiatives to integrate ecological awareness into education. 100+ teachers will be trained, and 500+ students engaged in real-world sustainability projects. Schools will adopt a whole-school approach, policymakers will gain data-driven insights, and the methodology will be scalable across Europe, ensuring long-term impact on education and sustainability policies.
