There has been a growing trend in recent years of individuals leaving urban areas in the European Union (EU) to immigrate to rural areas or return to their rural roots and pursue entrepreneurship initiatives related to farming and the environment. EU farmers could become a great paradigm for people in rural areas in Latin America (LA) that struggle with challenges as detailed bellow. Generally, there is a growing trend of people from Latin America leaving urban areas in the European Union (EU) to immigrate to rural areas or return to their rural roots and pursue entrepreneurship initiatives related to farming and the environment. Τhe FARM2LA project aims to create a network and promote collaboration between institutions from EU countries and Latin American institutions in order to create a VET Education Program addressed to VET trainers that will provide VET students (farmers) with the knowledge, green and digital skills, and key competencies they need to advance professionally in the farming and agriculture sector. As part of the initiatives to improve and modernize VET education in Argentina, Paraguay, Mexico, and Chile, the project will address the needs of Latin American VET trainers for complete future-oriented VET Education programs. The implementation of the project includes: -A research report will be created on the current situation of VET education of farmers in the 4 Latin American countries. -An educational curriculum and educational contents will be developed through the contribution and flow of knowledge of all partners by organised FarmLabs.-An online MOOC platform and a range of digital tools (suite) will be developed to promote online learning, placing education and training in a virtual interactive environment.-2 Learning activities will take place. Finally, FARM2LA FarmNet will be created. Its purpose is the better training of VET trainers and VET students in the field of VET education in general and in agriculture in particular.
