<< Background >>We applied for this project to address a key challenge in vocational language learning (VET): Many vocational students lack the necessary language skills for the job market because instruction is often not tailored to their specific needs. In many vocational education institutions, there is either a general language curriculum or a lack of suitable teaching methods.Furthermore, we recognized that traditional teaching approaches often fail to motivate learners and provide them with practical language skills. Integrating Virtual Reality offers an innovative way to learn languages in realistic situations, making lessons more effective. Our goal was to enhance the language competence of VET learners, support teachers in integrating new technologies, and sustainably improve graduates' employability.<< Objectives >>Our goal in implementing the project was to enhance the quality and effectiveness of vocational language learning (VET) through the use of Virtual Reality (VR). To achieve this, we focused on several key objectives. First, we aimed to develop innovative teaching methods by exploring how VR could add value to vocational language education. Another important goal was to increase learner motivation and language proficiency. Through immersive VR scenarios, learners are provided with realistic language practice, allowing them to improve their communication skills in a professional context. This hands-on approach helps to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world application. Additionally, we aimed to support teachers in integrating new technologies into their teaching. Teachers were trained to effectively incorporate VR into their lessons, enabling them to apply modern, digital teaching methods.Lastly, we focused on improving learners' employability. By strengthening their language skills, we aimed to facilitate their entry into the job market and enhance their international career opportunities.<< Implementation >>To achieve the project’s objectives, we planned and conducted four transnational meetings, three LTT activities, five multiplier events, and five project results.Transnational meetings were essential for fostering close collaboration among partner organizations, making key decisions, and regularly reviewing project progress. These face-to-face meetings improved coordination and strengthened partnerships.LTT activities engaged both teachers and learners directly in the project. Participants learned how to integrate VR into their teaching, better identify language needs, and sustainably benefit from this digital technology.Multiplier events helped disseminate project results to a wider audience, both locally and internationally. These events maximized the project's impact and ensured long-term visibility of the outcomes. The development of five project results ensured a lasting practical benefit. Each partner country contributed its expertise to create high-quality, practice-oriented materials that could be used by educators and institutions beyond the project’s duration.<< Results >>The concrete project results included the development of realistic and interactive VR scenarios (PR1), allowing learners to practice language skills in professional contexts. Methodologies and guidelines (PR6) were created to support the effective integration of VR into vocational language teaching, helping educators identify and address learners' language needs. A web-based platform (PR3) was developed to serve as a central hub, providing resources and tools for VR-based language learning. Additionally, target language competencies (PR4) were defined for various professional fields, outlining how VR can support language acquisition. Lastly, a guidebook (PR2) was produced to assist teachers in integrating VR into their teaching methods with practical recommendations.Beyond these key results, the project achieved additional outcomes. Five multiplier events were held to share the results with a broader audience, including educators, institutions, and the public. These events contributed to the dissemination and awareness of the project's impact. Furthermore, stronger collaboration and networks were established through transnational meetings, ensuring the project's long-term success. Finally, VR technology was adopted as a sustainable approach in vocational language education, helping learners prepare for real-world job situations and improving their language proficiency.
