<< Background >>Climate change and other environmental challenges have already impacted every region on Earth in unprecedented and irreversible ways. Considering the too often controversial debate young people need to be guided on this topic which is fundamental for their lives and their future. It is also a matter of fact that such transformation impacts and involves not only the scientific community but should be treated also under its humanistic perspective. Environmental challenges, in fact, influence economy, health, education, history, including also religion and intercultural dialogue.The EU Green Deal sets a series of important actions in order to combat climate change transforming Europe in the first climate zero-impact continent. Beyond this great challenge there are several opportunities to be taken. Everybody needs to do its part starting from the youngsters who constitute the majority of the population in many countries and have an increasingly strong social and environmental awareness, which has the power to transform our societies towards a low- carbon and climate resilient future.<< Objectives >>The project was intended to empower youth to take action for the development of adaptation and mitigation solutions and enhance effective participation of youth in climate change policy decision-making processes. The project main objective was assured through the following specific actions:- Training 18-30 years old young people on the crucial environmental challenges, their interelationship with society and European policies;- Supporting young participants in acquiring the necessary knowledge and kills in environmental journalism and reporting and accompany them to create quality digital contents and communication material;- Creating an online repository where all the produced materials is stored and available for consultation allowing also new participants to get better information and participate to the overall process.<< Implementation >>The GREEN REPORTERS project organised a cycle of n. 8 online seminars involving young people into a discussion and reflection about the most urgent environmental challenges and sustainability issues. Each seminar was focused on a specific topic and facilitated by experts in the field (from Sep. 22 to Apr. 23). Then during an in person training session at international level carried out in Naples (May 23) participants worked together on the creation of ad hoc digital communication and dissemination materials that will serve to raise awareness around the topic and to acquire the necessary skills to become a Green Reporter into their community and beyond (Jun.-Nov. 23).A constant project management activity allowed to keep the project under monitoring and to follow the envisaged timeline and to face all the possible problems before their spread, avoiding in this way bottlenecks and modification to the original plan.<< Results >>- 18-30 years old students more aware about the impact that environmental challenges have on society and the the envisaged policy responses.- youth workers developed an enhanced knowledge about the young people interest and approach towards environmental and climate change issues.- production of new quality digital content on current and crucial environmental issues created by young people thanks to an interdisciplinary approach.- enhanced cooperation among youth, using the communication resources that will have been created by the project, to raise awareness on environmental issues in their communities.- partners and their local groups produced several video materials dedicated to different topics that can now be used by young students and other people interested in knowing more about the correlation between environment and climate change issues and their daily life.
