<< Background >>GREENES was developed to address key challenges in the renewable energy sector within the context of digitalization in Serbia, the Republic of North Macedonia, and Slovenia. The region faces increasing demands for a highly skilled workforce equipped with the necessary expertise and modern educational frameworks to meet the requirements of energy efficiency and sustainability. A clear need emerged for advanced skills in technologies such as IoT, SCADA, and UAV, as well as for a regional approach aligned with the European Green Deal and the Green Agenda for the WBThe project’s primary objective was to innovate the syllabus of eight master-level courses and establish a virtual module, fostering regional cooperation through student and staff mobility, technology transfer, and support for sustainable development goals. The project aimed to equip students and professionals with modern competencies by focusing on capacity building at both institutional and individual levels, ensuring a long-term impact on the energy and education sectors. Through the implementation of educational innovations and the promotion of regional collaboration, GREENES aspired to transform the whole energy sector with special focus on renewable energy << Objectives >>The GREENES represented a transformative initiative designed to enhance the capacities of institutions and individuals in Serbia, North Macedonia, and Slovenia to effectively address emerging energy challenges through the integration of advanced digital tools in the renewable energy sector. Recognizing the rapid evolution of global energy systems and the growing importance of digitalization, the project aimed to bridge critical gaps in expertise by building competencies in cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), SCADA, and UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) technologies. This approach was carefully aligned with the European Union's sustainability goals, particularly the European Green Deal and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, ensuring that regional efforts contribute to the broader objective of environmental and economic stability. One of the primary goals of the GREENES project was to foster regional cooperation through the creation of a transnational module, establishing a unique platform for knowledge exchange, technological innovation, and policy alignment. By strengthening educational systems and enabling cross-border collaboration, the project facilitated the development of a skilled workforce.<< Implementation >>All planned activities were implemented with a high degree of completion. These activities included the development of specialized syllabus for eight courses across all three institutions, the creation of educational materials, and the organization of workshops focused on the application of IoT, UAV, SCADA, and other digital tools. Efforts were directed toward improving energy efficiency, process management, promoting sustainable practices, and building digital competencies among students, teachers, and industry professionals in the region. These initiatives contributed to strengthening institutional capacities and supported regional cooperation for a sustainable energy future. Project management activities ensured seamless coordination and monitoring through regular meetings and communication among partners. Development activities included the creation of specialized curricula, digital training modules, and educational materials focused on IoT, UAV, and blockchain applications in renewable energy. Implementation activities covered workshops, training sessions, and the preparation of case studies to apply and enhance these innovations.Dissemination activities involved publications, webinars, public events, and digital campaigns.<< Results >>The GREENES delivered a range of tangible results and outcomes that advanced education in renewable energy and digitalization. Innovative educational curricula and training programs were developed, tailored to the needs of renewable energy and digital transformation. Educational materials, digital tools, and resources were created, integrating advanced technologies such as IoT, UAV, and SCADA.Workshops, training sessions, and events were conducted to implement and test these resources. The project also achieved extensive knowledge dissemination through e-publications and digital campaigns, contributing to regional cooperation and capacity building in education and industry related to renewable energy. In addition to the inter-institutional module, key outcomes included a knowledge e-platform, providing access to digital educational materials and innovative curricula. The project integrated the concept of e-learning into its programs, enabling flexible and accessible training for students and professionals.A carbon footprint calculator was developed to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices, along with four LLL courses focusing on practical applications and skills development based on the use of UAV and SCADA systems
